How bad is the Comptech Header rattle/vibration?

I think I have read just about every post on the Comptech header versus the DC Sports one and it seems like the Comptech is the "better" buit header but has this annoying rattle/vibration on the auto's. Does anyone have any sounds clips of what this noise is? I am thinking about getting the Comptech just because of build quality but I want to know how annoying this sound is.

Thanks.

I'm too lazy but search for my thread, i have a long discussion on it how i tried to fix it....needless to say, i sold it and got the Topspeed header because it was that annoying. If you have an 5AT it will be bad. If you have a 6MT, you'll be fine, so go buy it!

I read that thread that you posted about how you tried to fix the problem and at what idle speeds the issue seemed to come up at... I do have the 5AT so I think I will really start looking at either the DC Sport or the Top Speed. I appreacite your comments.

Honestly me and cccolticehockey say its not bad, but his rattler is worse than mine.

Mine isn't even bad unless it rains and the ac is on...

I didn`t experience any rattle sounds yet, but must admit that in some cases (I can`t relate it to any situation in particular) I hear slightly louder engine sound.. Kind of that my right exhaust is a bit louder, or loose..

J's Racing has a new header for the K20. Similar to Toda, except the flexible mount for J's Racing is rigid 2-1 fit. Check it out on their website. Fits CL7 models and I thibnk for CL9 will be a biot of a problem...

Someone on the other forum has a fix for CT header rattles. If you PM me on the "club" website I will send you the link.

I'm still telling you guys its not that bad, but me and colt get different rattles.

I did replace my exhaust and head hangers which helped... somewhat.

My vibration would come on under heavy idle or when the A/C was on and idling. Once I installed my Apexi WS2 exhaust, the vibration disappeared. Lucky me I guess

Hey 1TSXer, do you have the 6MT or 5AT? I've been thinking of purchasing the same header/exhaust combo, but the comptech rattle has kept me from making the leap for the header

I have a MT. The vibration can get annoying if you let it get to you, but I always would just turn up the radio and drown it out. Pull the trigger, the Comptech is a nice piece

So what's the least annoying header for an auto tsx? Do the DC Sports or Topspeed headers vibrate or make any other noises? I see to remember another brand of header that didn't rattle, but it did hiss or something?

that's all relative, as indicated by the responses in the thread. some ppl think the rattle is not bad and an acceptable tradeoff for more HP, while others can't stand it.

likewise, some people had to replace the flex pipe in the DC and topspeed headers b/c of the hissing, bad welds, or holes.

i think i may get the comptech even though i have an AT. i think i'd rather deal with the potential rattle than have to worry about the flex pipe issue with the other headers.

Does anyone know anything about the Mugen Header? I am looking to make an upgrade but do not want to have the rattle that I have been hearing about. I spoke to a guy in California and the only time he has heard of the problem with the Comptech is if someone calls and says they read about the problem on these types of forum. But if someone has the Mugen setup I would like to know if they have had any issues with it. Thanks.

That was my thought process as well at the time.

I've had DC Sports headers on prior Acuras and loved them. Usually a great product for a good price - but too many issues on the TSX version. In this case, I think the Comptech is worth the extra coin.
