Hondata K-pro

Do you guys think it would be worth spending $595 now to get my Hondata done, rather than waiting until the K-pro come out? Does anyone know an approximate time that the K-pro will be coming out? For some reason I have a feeling that by the end of the summer Hondata's gonna make it happen, and I would definately hold off on spending money for just the reflash now, and save it for the K-pro then. But if you guys still think its going to be a while...then I'll quit holding off on the lovely Hondata and get it done in a couple weeks.

eh, well i answered my own question when i looked around on the site...they offer a discount to those who have reflashed their ECU with Hondata already for the other cars they have the K-pro out for. I'd like to believe that Hondata will come up with the K-pro for us one of these days. I called and talked to the guy from New Zealand (I think?) and he kept answering "It's possible" when I asked him about it, and he proceeded to tell me, "Look, just know that we haven't forgotten about the TSX." Also, if they came out with a K-pro with a car like the Honda Element, I would think they'd make something for the TSX. But, I dunno...

Hondata K-pro for the TSX is in the works for our TSX. Got this from the other forum. Hopefully it is available this summer.

Some random poster on the other board.

hey for those who have been waiting for an engine management from Hondata patience will soon pay off. a good friend of mines who owns a shop down by is good friends with the creators of Hondata and we spoke on Saturday afternoon hanging out and he informed that they already have Hondata K-Pro for the 04-05 TSX but will not be releasing it until the end of May or towards the summer. the only reason for this is because when it is hooked up to the TSX the cruise control stops working and he wants to get this fixed since the TSX is a higher class type car and knows the owners would want that option. its also gonna have the jumper harness so he is saying it wont be messing with the stock ECU its just gonna be jumped from it and the K-Pro will send the info to the ECU. i'll be at the shop again on Wed so if u got any Quesions let me know and i can also find out for you. hope this has been some helpful information.
Until we hear it from the horses mouth, its all speculation...

if you purchase a reflash from Hondata. Later on if you are planning upgrade to K-Pro (if available), Hondata will only charge you the different not the whole price.
I could be wrong

K-Pro will not work unless you drop the fly-by-wire TB setup on the TSX, and get a custom 45 VTC mechanism setup from an RSX. If your going to do this you might as well just swap to an RSX head. Be preparied to spend around 2k to get all this done and tuned. Unless you are going for all motor, an SuperCharger is probably a bigger bang for the buck on a HP/$ ratio.

Yes it is old but it does not change the fact that K-Pro does not work with a fly-by-wire TB, or the fact taht the TSX has a more limited VTC system that can only retard up to 25 degrees.

Well, hondata better figure out something because DBW is the future and its where all Hondas are headed. Also, given the fact that the RSX is now canceled, you would think the TSX would have bumped up on the priority list...And what about the new Si? Those guys are probably screaming for it as well...

I agree with you, there is a guy in Tempe that did a k20 head swap, TB, VTC, and K-pro and got a 30hp bump. (SSC or Modifyed had a writeup). I have emailed him several times but never heard back. I would like to do an all motor build but just not sure I want to open my wallet.

Sucks that Honda doesn't release the source code and component schematics of their ECUs to aftermarket companies. GM and Subaru do, and it results in handheld flash programmers being available for a vehicle before it even hits showrooms. I would have thought differently, due to the fact that some Honda vehicles have a healthy aftermarket themselves.

Considering how much the odds are set against them (and speaking as an EE), I am damn impressed with the quality and thoroughness of Hondata's work. No doubt they will come up with something sometime as their future depends on it. As far as when that will be...entertain the hearsay and conjecture if you find it interesting, I guess.

By the time KPro comes out, the Factory Turbo TSX will be out in production.
