Wow, that sucks for all the '05ers if it's true. But then again you guys got the lighted steering wheel, power pass. seat, etc. I'd still take Hondata over all that, though.

how different is the '06 engine? will the bolt-ons and FI setups be compatible? (speaking in hardware only)

I think this has been discussed here before, but isn't it conceivable to swap an '04 ecu into an '05? I'm sure someone would find a way to make it happen unless it was too cost prohibitive.

Definitely sucks. I would buy one. I wish we knew more of the technical details of the problems with cracking.

Maybe we could help???

yes it is conceivable but no one knows the lasting affects of it. there was someone who has done it. the user has to supply wth 04 ecu as well as that means the the 05 ecu will no long work with the immobilizer but i dont know what that means about the keys. and taking it into acura for check-ups as well if something major goes wrong. i wonder if all the keys would still work? Hondata didnt seem that they were willing to do it. when i asked what it was going to take. He replyed that it was not possible at this time. I know i'd buy it in a heart beat..... Ergg... hondata

I think all 3 have to match - ecu, immobilizer, and key.

Hondata is not the one you should be frustrated with.

Yes they do. For the ECU to boot up you need all three, and you need them to match. That is why Hondata needs all three to reflash a 2004 TSX ECU.

I am very curious as to what the differences are between the ECUs, given that the drivetrain is identical (I think). The ECU also controls things like the VSA, air conditioning, headlights, etc. because they all place enough of a drain on the electrical system that the ECU has to crack the throttle just a little bit when they come on in order to keep the engine within 10RPM of its 850 RPM idle point.

Yes. Please do not call us.

We are working on the 2005 ECU. Due to the nature of this work it impossible to give any sort of timeframe. When we get that done, it will be back to the drawing board with the 2006 ECU.

Would having pre-orders give you guys incentive to work faster?

j/k, take your time and perfect your art!

I mean you guys with 2005's could just goto a junkyard or buy a new 2004 ECU from Acura.

I don't think Hondata is being difficult. It's just that certain task is difficult to do, and it takes time. No other companies even come close in producing any engine management solution.

I think he was actually referring to (blaming? ) Honda for changing the ECU every year. Easy to misinterpret.

I did too. But my "Now, don't you feel silly" wasn't specific enough so I sounded like I knew what I was talking about.

The very fact that the ECU is different on the '05 implies that it will not work on the '04. I don't know if this has been done successfuly but I would suspect it is impossible.
