HiTech Header
Where did Blackthorn get a HiTech Header as he posted in the dyno thread?
I googled this and its a small shop in Austrialia, I called their number and they dont make a header for our car, and they dont ship to the US, so where did he get it from and where is the dyno that one would likly want to see before ordering an expensive part from overseas?

Its HyTech, www.hytechexhaust.com. John, the owner, does some great work. I think their main business is custom race headers but he get a lot of business from the acura crowd. Did alot for the B-series, and I believe he did something for the K20 that got into a Car and Driver competition. They are located in Irvine.
Anyways, they do custom H/C/E setups. Stainless steel systems, high-flow cat, twin loop muffler, etc. Their header is their best work, a 4-2-1 setup with extra length primaries, proprietary anti-reversion chambers. Bascially nothing on the market matched it for the integra (I think the Comptech race header for the integra was a copy cat design, but Im not sure). Made the torque curve much more full, and a type-R claimed 31 more hp at the wheel (with intake -I'll try and look up the link, but this was all over team-integra.net). Unfortunately, since its custom, its not CARB legal - so no go for me.
On an integra, he quoted me 2400 for H/C/E. I don't know what it would be for the TSX, since there are 2 mufflers. He would probably need to keep it for about a week to work on the car.

The drive-thru smog place on Orangethorpe near my house spends like 5 seconds for the visual check.

HyTech
See link above. From the second post:
....."Emissions testing with the HyTech system were more than successful. At the 15mph test hydrocarbons registered at absoulute 0.00%. At 25mph HC% was only up 0.01%. CO numbers were at the floor as well registering only half of what the average low emissions vehicle produces. CARB certification shouldn't be a problem, it's just a pain in the ass process but it will happen eventually. Living in CA, CARB certification is definitely important to me....
PAssed with flying colors, so NO worries

So it's 2500 for Header, CAT, and Exhaust?
Is it seperated into multiple pieces?
It's all CARB legal? Even the CAT?

It is multiple pieces, however since I am in SoCal I will be going to the shop to get it installed

2500 for the whole deal? Single or dual twin loops? Do you have to leave the car with him (he wanted to keep my teg since I was one of the only 4 doors to inquire)? Anyways, I'd really like to hear your impressions, possibly some pics, TSX2345. I was sold on this for the Teg (as you can tell) now I might have to save up again for the TSX.
Hopefully the gains will be as tangible with the TSX as they were with the K20 and the B18. This, a good intake, lightweight rims, and Hondata would have some nice gains.
Good work keep us informed...

As I am told from John this will be a dual muffler design. Won't need to leave my car there, he already had another TSX months ago to prototype it from and do some testing. So once its complete John will give me a call and make arrangements to go get it installed.
I too was sold on it when I had my Integra, had a GSR Sedan.
Getting reflashed next week then waiting for the exhaust to be built

Hey, I had a 4 door too, non-Vtec though. He wanted to keep my car for a couple of weeks for fitment, since I think I was the first non-vtec 4 door that had requested the exhaust at the time (a couple of years back).
Did Hytech make any claims for power - dynos, torque and HP gains other TSX?

Hytech is besically the creme de la creme of headers. He makes every one by hand. Hytech is about 10 minutes from my house. I stop by there sometimes. John is the K-series master.

They are around $1500 I think. He uses race technology, specific pipe diameter, thin walled material, pulse welding (no filler), etc. It is the mercedes of headers. Plus he gets your specs and makes the header speific to your mods.

Forget about CARB legal on this baby.

Well, not sure if you clicked on the link I provided [Post #10] you saw how much it made by simply bolting it. The HyTech is not your ordinary header. Often refered as the Tri-Y or hybrid header.

That's not bad news at all -- actually good news. I clicked on the link that took me to teamintegra, but didn't see any dyno?? I'm getting curious about this thing now since Hondata's testing showed that the K24's breathing would unlock lots of potential or the NA folks.
FI folks don't need any more power.

I meant Toda!
I know it took you to Team-Integra. The point being is that a bolt-on exhaust put down those numbers. The link was evidence so to speak, and more background information.

Hytech has fitted a complete exhaust system to my car with highflow cat.
Here is a rough comparison from memory.
The Toda Header with test pipe (no cat) and stock cat back made similar power and torque under 6400 rpm to the complete Hytech system with cat.
The Hytech system made about 8 hp more peak - 7500 rpm. Impressive that it was done through a cat.
However the Toda header was only a prototype test unit from Japan and is not available for sale to my knowledge.
