High Beam Upgrade Question

Has anyone upgraded the high beam lights to a stronger bulb? I went to a couple of parts stores looking for the white sylvanias (because they made a big difference on my old CL) but the TSX isn't listed in the light bulb books.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Agree! The high beam looks to me like regular beam. Would happy to know if anyone upgrade it to something stronger.

I am not so sure about it. The other day, when I "high beam" a car which try to come right turn out from a stop light, it appears to be not strong enough to stop him from coming out! It maybe possible to turn on the high beam all the time and does not bother anyone too. I don't konw, maybe just under some certain weather condition.

Not so sure about purple. But where did you get h1's?

try reading the info on this site before you change your lights over to a fake "HID" lighting system.

if you are too lazy to find the page:

Thanks for the link. Very nice site. So, will H9 work on TSX high beam slot?

How do you like your H1 vs the original? Do you have any comparison pictures for before and after? If not, how about taking one tonight? Thanks.

What wattage of H1's did you get? I believe the upgrade on my CL was from 55w to 100w (white) and it was a noticeable improvement but on Devo's site I see that the 100w is not recommended with the plastic lenses. Would it melt our TSX lenses?

BTW, I'm not touching the low beam HID's, I like them, the high beams are not HID's, they are just standard bulbs. Too bad they are not HID's as well.

stick with the wattage of your car and not what the bulb says.

That's ok! Would like to see what they look like now. Are you sure the original one is 55 watts? Or do you have a service manual to check?

Since watts seem not to tell much, let focus on lumens. The lumens of H1 is 1380, how about the lumens of the original one?

I recommend changing the high beams to a better H1 bulb. I got the Osram (Sylvania here) Silverstart H1 bulbs, check my gallery to see the bulbs in action..(not the best, since it's time elapsed).

I saw a tv commercial a while ago that says Sylvania is selling the Silverstar in the US..but I haven't gone to the store to check them yet. On my packaging, it says up to 50% brighter..and from just looking at it, it is obviously a bit brighter.
