Headers sound?

Hello all, how much louder are the Comptech or DC Headers inside the cars? I looked around but can't find a definate answer. Can you even hear a difference if you have aftermarket headers on? I know the CAI and exhaust you do.. Any input would help

I thought that headers don't really make a significant noise difference

You have the Comptech 4-2-1 right? The difference is audible to me, although I'm not running the OE cat, which has an auxiliary function as a quasi-silencer for everything upstream of it. So I could be hearing things that most people have hidden from them by the cat.

The exhaust sound is not louder. But there is a noticeable sound of gas flow during WOT acceleration; sort of like a hiss and a whine. The Comptech part being tuned to the K24A2's exhaust frequency, this is to be expected, as the OE short header is not constructed in this manner. It doesn't resonate. The Comptech does, and you can hear it when the engine's cut loose.

I'd be willing to bet the DC does it too. It should, if it is designed properly.

It's only slightly louder if you have the hood open and standing in front of the engine. You can't hear it inside the car. I think it's mainly caused by the lack of heat shield and perhaps slightly thinner metal.

Thank you guys! I'm debating if I should get one or not. I am trying to keep my interior noise as quiet as possible. Is there a sound difference between DC and Comptech?

Just installed my DC header and I get an audible hiss above about 3000rpm and more than 20% throttle. I imagine it's much the same reasno rmpage suggested for the Comptech. I've also driven a CL9 with Maxim Works (M-Bit) headers for a CL7 fitted and it too hissed.

I get the same effect. If you have the window down it sounds pretty cool, at least I think it does.
