Exhaust Question

Hi,

I have a 2004 TSX and so far I've installed my Injen CAI as short ram since I haven't had time to install the lower pipe for true cold air induction. Once I complete that I think the next mod I should do is to replace the factory exhaust system to gain more power. I'm looking for some suggestions/guidance. What exhaust system would be the best for maximum gains in performance?

Also is exhaust the best thing to replace next or should I do something else first?

Thank you,

Nathan

So I think it is pretty safe to say that everything past the cat is mostly just for aesthetics. As far as Honda exhausts go, the stocker is a fine piece of work.

I agree. I have the CT cat back... zero help unless you replace the header and cat too.

good paste hrj_

Consider new pulleys, header, or hondata engine management for additional performance boost!

Hey thanks for the replies.

So I guess my best bet would be to replace the catalytic converter with a high flow cat?

Any suggestions for what brand of high flow cat to get?

Thanks again

Check with Excelerate in the Group Buy section. The RT cat is a really good high flow cat and if paired with a header, you get the performance. That's why most say do the Hondata first b/c just doing the cat doesn't really solve the issue of air flow through the header.

Hey moda_way, thanks for your response. I need all the explanations that I can get. I'm a newbie to doing car mods as I sit and write software or web apps all day (whatever my company needs me to do). Is Excelerate a user or a store/website?

Here's what I think I need to do...get a high flow cat from RT. Get the hondata chip, replace the headers, and replace the pulleys?

Does that sound like what I should do after I finish installing the rest of my CAI?

I have the Injen SP1431 CAI with the MR technology (which I think stands for Mix Ratio). Currently it's only installed as short ram because I haven't had a chance to remove the wheel well to get to the air resonator box.

thanks again,

nathan
