Dyno: CT Supercharger 3.3 pulley and K-Pro dual

Hey guys,

This was emailed to me by Doug from Hondata. It also appears on one of the other forums. I figured I should pass along the info

Preliminary results from testing this morning.

04 MT TSX:

- 06 TSX intake cam
- 06 TSX TB - 64mm
- 45 Degree VTC cam pulley
- Hytech headers & exhaust
- High Flow cat
- Injen intake with (very) dirty air filter
- CT supercharger
- 3.3 pulley with 1920mm belt
- VTEC point 3000 RPM
- 7 PSI boost

Notes:

- Torque is wheel torque not engine torque. Engine torque is 225 ft pounds
- Red line dirty air filter
- Green line velocity stack no air filter

My TSX will be at the dyno day tomorrow where I might try a 3.15 pulley if there is time.

I now have a good base map for those interested. The car is very smooth and very fast. This is not surprising as it has 75% more power than stock.

Wow that is awesome! But excuse my ignorance -- what's with the Tq numbers over 1000 lb-ft?

I wondered the same thing:

Try that dyno again in fourth gear instead of third. You'll get more realistic numbers.

Very nice gain.
It would be very interest to see your car with 3.15 pulley.

Fourth gear is the thinnest, weakest gear in the K series gearbox.

I thought to get the most accurate whp reading on a dyno means pulling in a gear with the closest ratio to 1:1. For the TSX, that would be 4th gear (1.088:1).

I've done a few dyno pulls in both 3rd and 4th in the same session, and my numbers in 4th were always higher by about 10%.

Very nice numbers, Doug . Correct me if I'm wrong but you're also still running a stock clutch/flywheel, right?

I think that's why the Tq numbers are divided by the ratio shown on-screen -- it makes it a perfect 1:1, apples-to-apples number.

Wow, very nice and mods!!! Reflash or KPro? I think KPro will give you a better power with tuning up.

dyno in 4th if you are on a mustang dyno for sure. Also disable your VIS flaps since it messing with your boost it seems(3 grand) unless that is something else

This is Doug from Hondata's TSX, not mine. Doug has another dyno with 3.15" and 3.0" pulleys. I'll post that up a little later.

Here's Doug's dyno with the smaller pulleys:
Green line 3.3 pulley
Blue line 3.15 pulley
Yellow line 3.0 pulley

Doesn't the CT SC drop the vtec enguagement point to 3K? Can you use k-pro or something similar to raise that to 4.5Kish or are you stuck with it at 3k? That's one of the things that's been keeping me from getting a SC for mine.

Yeah, the CTSC does drop Vtec to 3K. However it is a Vtec window based on how much throttle and manifold pressure there is.

Below 3K, you are always Not in Vtec
Above 5K, you are always In VTEC

From 3K-5K RPMs you will be in VTEC depending on how much you are on the throttle.

And with K-Pro, you can set VTEC where ever you want. From what I've heard, having it at 3K produces the most power though. So you could change the Vtec engagement point, but you will probably make less power.

Ah I didn't know it was a window. I thought it was set at 3K always in vtec above it and always not in it below. I just didn't want to get the SC then wear out the solenoid all the time since I spend alot of time on the highways at 75-80 so I stay above 3K.

I second that. I did not know it was a window. I have the kit (may put it on in 2 or 3 weeks) and do spend alot of time on the highway. I am typically under 3K even at 75ish mph.

Yeah, with the gearing on the Auto. 3K RPMs will be about 87-89 mph on the freeway. That's my cruising speed if there is no traffic.

For the VTC machining, I'm not sure about that one. Ideally, it would be nice if someone ended up with an extra VTC. That way you could get it machined ahead of time and then do the swap without the vehicle having any down time.

Then that person could sell their unmodified VTC to the next person.

1) 06 TSX intake cam (Most aggressive Honda OEM intake cam) This is stock on the 06 TSX, but not on the 04/05
2)Modified VTC to allow 45 degrees of CAM advance on the intake

wow..... 333whp is a great output.

I noticed you using the 06 TSX intake cam.
Why not use K20A EURO-R intake cam?
