Dohcgarage Header Test
POSTED THIS ON THE OTHER SITE... DON'T WANNA HATE ON THIS ONE!...
HOW YOU ALL ENJOY!
Well, last friday night i was sitting at my friends shop, DOHCGARAGE in WPB, Florida.. after shooting dah shit for about 3 hours. then he asked me if i wanted to test a new header that he got. If people seen my other car's they know i'm pretty finicky about the parts i purchase. Since he was a friend i said sure, i'll test the product. Took it home and started examining it. Full Stainless Steel, looks like TIG wilds all around, so i was pretty impressed. Looked into the 4-2-1 collector area and it seems pretty smooth. Not bad at all!
Test Vehicle is my 2005 TSX 5AT w/ 8000 miles, motorwise the car is completely bone stock execpt for a grounding kit that i got from my DOHCGARAGE as well. I purchased this car with no intention to be modified to go fast.
Saturday night: Took a drive to another friends shop BILLET DESIGN MOTORSPORTS, Pompano. to get the dyno done. Got a great deal for the dyno, so anyone in south florida need a dyno call them!!! Strapped her down and after 2 runs my TSX slapped down 156.4 HP. I said okee dokee and was on my way home to get ready to go clubbin.
Sunday: Way too hungover to install the header! But had a blast Saturday Night!
Monday: Decided to Install the header. Took roughly 2 hours with my compressor and air tools. Nothing to complicated about the install. Pretty straight forward. Cleaned up and took a ride to Jamba, first thing i noticed was a little more engine noise, like a small growl only at WOT, Normal crusing was just like stock!!! Alot more mid-range torque, and it felt alot more responsive throughout. I'm happy.
Tuesday (today): Went back to the same dyno, same tank of gas, same everything besides it was 3 degrees hotter and a little less humid. Strapped her down again and she spun the rollers at a tune of 171.6 HP.. my opinion was, that impossible!! but we rolled it again and 170.6 HP.. Still not a believer, 170.4 HP... okay... three runs, same dyno, same everything. I'm amazed. Well folks, i knew the car felt faster, but damn.

OP, please find out where he got them from, brand, anything about reliability. But 14ish HP from that header is nice!
I wonder what the deal with that generic looking stainless header on eBay is. I could be easily tempted to go with one of those if it is the same as what was dyno'd here.

Is this an OBX header? If Im not mistaken, their design was SS and looked identical to the DC sports header - 2 piece, etc.

Its a damn shame I'm buying a house and have to put the car on hold for a bit. It'll be at least a month until I can get in on one of these, I hope someone else here guinea pigs another one in the mean time.

Now that there's another option i think DC and comptech's prices will come down a bit since this one is so much cheaper and seems of good build quality.
Too bad i've just installed my comptech header yesterday

tig welded stainless shouldn't fail like the DCs... unless my limited welding knowledge is missing something.
Still, it somehow still falls in the 'too good to be true' category until we see multiple results. I'm glad kwjustin89 is ordering it. BTW... can you be clear about which you ordered and where? The eBay one or the one from Turtle's friend?
