CompTech SuperCharger Update

I spoke with Comptech today reguarding the SC for our car and it sounds like it should be release by end of year. They expect to have a piggyback setup ready by the end of the month and already have all of the mechnical build and ready to go. Once they have this in place and have made some minor tweaks, this should be ready to ship. They should have an working solution by the end of this month or November and have a final product ready by end of year. I cannot wait to see the dyno of this as I am guessing 60whp and 50ft-tq

it was not scrapped, just delayed, there are already a number of people that have prepaid for this. I would like one as well but I am guessing it will be around 4-5k for install and with that amount of power gain, you would need a better clutch and probably LSD thus your at 6k plus labor.

But they are commited to creating this and

I almost forgot that Comptech is developing a S/C kit for our car.

I'd love to have more power and torque, but at $4-6k plus labor, how is it justified? I can understand getting the Hondata reflash and improving your exhaust setup with a new header, cat, etc... even with all of those, you're still sub $2k territory. I know the argument here would be that the SC gives even more substantial gains, but at $4-6k more, I'd just go out and get another car... and one that sends the power to either the rear wheels or all four. Am I missing something? I guess it makes sense if you track your car, but I don't see the cost-benefit here... Even with the SC, I'd venture a 330 could probably still take a TSX off the line... maybe even a Mazdaspeed6...

Response I received in email from Comptech yesterday:

We are releasing a 04 6-Spd only TSX kit in January or February of next year, with other kits to follow. Please keep checking our website for updates and details. No other info is available at this time. Thanks for considering Comptech.

Comptech will come out with a kit for the TSX. They just released their 04+ TL Kit. Rest assured, when they come out with the TSX Supercharger Kit I will create a Groupbuy to offer you guys a good deal.

Depends. You won't get anymore HP with Hondata, just use what you got better for around $600. You'll get maybe 40HP more with the Comptech Superchager for ~$3000. Depends on budget.

Any confirmation if Comptech is teaming up with Hondata on the ECU tuning for the SC setup?

Well, if it is anything like the TL, they have a piggy back, so I don't think it is Hondata... but I'm just guessing.

if they did team up with hondata that would be awsome..... i read somewhere that they did team up, but i don't remember where or how true it is, but it may be possible they did..... just cause the tl have a piggyback doesn't mean the tsx will cause of the DBW and other stuff that other piggybacks didn't work yet....

thats my logic..... and if they did work with hondata i hope there is a discount cause i already got the reflash althought i got my $600 monies worth after the first week if hondata......

considering its taken 6-8 months longer than it was supposed to, I would hope they have something better than a piggyback

I had planned on this mod but as the price with install will likly be 7k+ I would liky just hold out and buy a different car. 7k for 50hp is a little unrelistic when a turbo system that could produce simiilar gains would be 2-3k less. But I guess we will have to wait and see what the dyno says. I have posted this before but I think a 50hp gain would realy require some additional spend on a better clutch and maybe LSD, now were at 9k.

I don't think there ever was an HKS kit planned for production. There was a one-of-a-kind prototype for the Dazz TSX and it was assembled out of the existing HKS parts bin.

I remember cybernation had plans to develop a kit but forgot what happened to that.

Solution to your problems ...

I'm not sure what solution Comptech will come up with, but perhaps you can just order the kit without their piggyback and but a Hydra Nemesis ECU instead.

See more details on the thread I started here.

Finally, a proper complete replacement plug'n'play ECU available for the TSX with totally customisable laptop based tuning software.

regards
Rod
