I put in comptech's short shifter and it's awesome. But neuspeeds looks to be the exact same set up...What does neuspeed claim to reduce throw by? Comptech is about 38%.

neuspeed claims 30% and cost $50 from their website, and comptech is 38% and costs $69...

8% is arbitrary really IMO. I like my Comptech set up and I trust Comptech for the best fitting parts. However; Neuspeed is a good company with a good reputation. So, I guess the decision is over 19$ not quality or throw reduction. Just my .02

Buy the Comptech kit from Excelerate and use the Neuspeed instructions. Trust me, I've installed a few.

I had the exact same question before I bought the comptech and installed it. The prices weren't very different at that time though.

^^^

And when it comes time to take the white plastic cap off the bottom of the stock shifter, don't bother w/ the 13 mm wrench idea. I was screaming bloody murder in my garage trying to get it off w/ the 13 mm wrench. Just take a flathead screwdriver in the gap and push it off, and put some padding on the shifter housing for when the cap suddenly gives way and you jam your index finger into the housing.

I used the tool from Comptech and just pushed down as if I was doing a push up. Popped right off with all my weight on it. But it is a PITA and can definitely relate.

I used a hair dryer to heat up and it came right off like magic! In fact with the hair dryer I was able to take it off by hand.

My goodness...that's genius. I assume that would just soften up the plastic and not "stretch" it permanently after you've pulled it off the shifter when it's hot.

Yep, no damage at all and easy as pie. To attach it to the comptech shifter use some vasolene on it and the shifter then reheat it with the hair dryer and it'll slip on like a good fitting glove.
