You can get the Tein SS from Mr. HeelToe (One of our board vendors) for less than $1100. I believe he was charging $950 with tax and shipping included if you live in Cali. If you don't live in Cali you might be able to get an even better deal since you don't have to pay tax.

It's hard to compare the Mugen Body kit to the Tein suspension because the there is a big price difference.

A Mugen bodykit might even cost more than $2000 after painting, shipping, and install. Where did you get your quote?

What do you look for?? Looks or performance??

if you want your car to look good, big change.......go for the kit.... and what color car you have???

if you want performance, go for coilovers.... and addition, if you lower more than 1.5".. when people can see a diff.... they will think it looks better as well~

If you have $2K to spend, I'd get the Tein Flex suspension, a rear sway bar, Ingalls rear camber kit. This will be about $1500. Throw in a couple hundred more in your budget and you can get the OEM body kit if you're into body kits.

There are 2 problems w/ buying a body kit only: 1) If you go with Mugen, that's a pretty aggressive looking kit. I don't think it will look right unless your car is lowered. 2) Body kit gives you zero driving enjoyment. You can enjoy how your car looks from the outside, but once you're behind the wheel, the car feels exactly the same.

This is why I would personally do the suspension first - b/c it gives immediate, noticeable performance improvement (better handling), will actually enhance appearance due to lowering, will make the car look even better when you put the body kit on, and is actually cheaper than the $2K Mugen body kit.

now all of you guys say is better to go with the coilover

i guess coilover, which will cost around $1000, and im also gettin the swaybar

I agree; suspension first. The kit won't look right anyway until you're lowered and have rims.

The Ingalls kit is a great choice; less than $150 shipped from a number of sources.

You will spend about $1500-$1550 for Tein Flex + Comptech rear sway bar + Ingalls camber kit.

If you go with Tein SS, you will spend about $1200 - $1250 w/ the same sway bar and camber kit.

This will leave you about $500 to $750.

If you still want a body kit, I think you can buy the OEM kit for about $750 - $800. But, I would suggest not getting the body kit if you are still on stock rims/tires. THe reason is, a body kit will make the stock rims/tires appear to be too far inside the wheel well - especially if the car is lowered. I would recommend saving the $500-$750 for now, accumulate some more cash, then buy some rims/tires - go with 18s for lighter weight, more daily durability, cheaper cost. Go with 19s if you really want a show car look.

Personally, I would spend the extra money and go with the Tein Flex suspension b/c it is a complete unit w/ upper pillow ball mounts which means simple plug and play installation. It also allows height adjustment independent of spring pre-load and suspension travel. This is a big advantage for corner weighting and maintaining ride quality.

Other than what I've already mentioned, the US spec Tein Flex comes with stiffer springs than the SS and the Flex is EDFC compatible. This means, you can hook up an in-car damping adjustment controller to the Flex, but not on the SS.

In terms of installation, the SS uses your stock upper mounts. Installation will require spring compressors to disassemble your stock suspension assemblies.

Seems like the SS should be more than adequate for your needs.

coilovers, hands down...

They make your car look better too.. plus body kits look better on dropped cars.

i would say go with TEIN SS, if you're only going to use it for daily street driving. FLEX if you're going to go all out on your car. SS can save you around 300-400 i think

The EDFC can be used with the Tein "Flex" on the TSX.

I would lower it first! You can get the Tein SS for about $1000, the OEM body kit for about $8-900 an use the extra $100 or so to go toward your camber kit.

Good luck!

I'd hit coilover first, slam it like you mean it before you wear any skirts. hell, drop it like it's hot and it dont matter if ur wearing skirts or not

Coilover > Ground kit
Performance > Looks

The rear suspension on the TSX is a multi-link setup. When you lower a TSX, the rear tires will look like this: / \

You want them to look more like this: l l

Too much negative rear camber will create understeer and also prematurely wear the insides of your tires, especially if you're running soft performance tires.

The Ingalls rear camber kit replaces two of the multi-links per side with adjustable links that allow your alignment specialist to dial in the correct camber. Factory spec is max -1.5; I'm at -1.0 with my Ingalls kit and Tein FLEX with a 1.7" rear drop. Without Ingalls I'd be well in the -2s.......

Yes if it's brand new with shipping included, and no if it's used. Should be around $100 for a set of used ones.
