clutch life?

I know you canīt put a certain km/mile rating on a clutch, there are too many variables.

but my gearbox is beeing removed in the next few weeks and I am trying to decide if I should get a new one or just finish the orginal one, my car is now at 34000 kilometers(ca 21000miles)
I have not driven it excessively hard, just average I think.

you guys who have allready changed clutches, because it was slipping or totally gone, what miles where you at?

thanks.

i have owned numerous cars with manual transmission and never had to replace the clutch on any of them-alot of them went way over 100,000 miles and even over 200,000 miles. I can not help you-sorry

If you drive the car normally, the stock clutch should last a long time (at least 100k miles).

Thumbs up

Hello h1coupe - I just passed 141,000 miles on my car this weekend, and I am on the stock clutch. For normal driving, use no more than 1500 rpms to get the car moving and don't "clutch-in" while coasting (use neutral). The TSX is no RS4 or M3 when it comes to acceleration so enjoy the strong point of the car which is the fine handling balance! Cheers

replacing mine at 76k miles. I'm not conservative with my clutch AT ALL. I downshift, slip, and hard accelerate. With nearly 200 whp and 168 ft lbs of torque, it is a wonder it made it this long. I'm replacing with the ACT kit from Excelerate and doing the Fidanza flywheel at the same time.

the dealer had to replace my throw-out bearing (under warranty) and asked me if I wanted to replace the clutch while they were in there...., but i declined... its is a matter of 450 now or MAYBE 1500 later......., its definetly a tuff decision but I decide to gamble and just let it ride. I to am not abussive with the clutch and it still grabs and feel fine. Oh yah i have 50,000 miles.... good luck....

Compare the used disc with a new one to see how much wear it has, look at the
wear on the pressure plate and flywheel, and then decide. With conservative use
you should get at least 100k miles unless you only drive in cities.
