Buying Brakes in T.O

Anyone in Toronto know any places to buy brake pads. Preferable Hawk or Axxis.

Either a physical location or on-line Canadian dealer would be great. Shipping from the US for Axxis or Hawk pads is $20 so I'm hoping I can find a better price.

Thanks.

Do they carry Axxis or Hawk, or Endless only? What did you go with?

Speedstar can get you almost any products you wish... just ask and they'll try to source it for you

DOM, do NOT, I repeat. Do NOT get AXXIS brake pads. They suck. The stopping power sucks and the brake dust was absolutely unbearable. I had them on my car and I STILL have brake dust on my rims that I can't just wipe off. I will never get AXXIS again!

Did Acura ever resolve your rotor warping problem? Did it go away?

Isn't speedstar in Scarborough? Sheppard between McCowan and Markham road? Where the Hyundai Dealership use to be?

Anyways, why do people always quick to point out speedstar as the first place to check without telling us the prices they paid? From what I can gather, they are very very expensive.

Speedstar is in Markham, on 14th Avenue east of Birchmount.

And yes, they are somewhat expensive, but they have excellent services, and they can source almost any parts you want.

72,800 They just started squeaking this week.

jlukja, I'm going to change pads and see if the vibration is improved. If not, a machining or rotor replacement is next. Actually I'll probly have these rotors machined regardless. They've been on the car since 50K.

Its not really a squeak actually, its more like a steel on steel noise. Its the type of noise that tells you without a doubt you need new pads and if you don't hurry up new rotors.

I had a squeak as low speeds that was periodic. Havn't heard that one in a few months though. I don't even think you have 50K yet? I wouldn't worry about brakes.

I already checked TireTrends and it seems they only carry Hawk for $113 CAD. I can get a better price on-line from the US including shipping.

NE1 try Akebono Pro Act? I have it on my bimmer and they are excellent, no brake dust at all and it bite as good as oem bimmer pad with no fade, squeak and I already have it for 25000km. Ray from Gilman(Scarborough McCowan & Elleseme) put this on for me and he put that on a lot of Accord too and all have good feedback.

BTW, SpeedStar is on Markham 14th & Woodbine and SpeedStars was on Scarborough but they closed down already. At least the owner is already give it up and already went back to HK.

Not sure I need rotors yet. And the main reason I havn't ordered from Tirerack, they ship UPS. UPS shipments from the US have always nailed me hard on fees, Usually 15 to 20% on top of what I already paid. So I try to avoid UPS shipping at all costs.

Yeah, I don't like UPS for other reasons, so the feeling is mutual. I would say after +70k km, you should be within rotor spec, but probably not for longterm with an agressive pad, but just a guess.

Yeah, FedEx is just as bad, stupid brokerage fees, among other things.

I've had these rotors on since 50,000km's so they're not that old.

Used FedEx once and there were no fees at all.
