Building a K24 Frankenstein

I was just on ClubSi. And I came across this thread about K series engines. There is and I'm sure people are already doing this K24 Frankenstein build. What it means it's just basically using the TSX or the Element block and nothing else but DC5 internals. I was just thinking. I might build something like this on my TSX some time down the road. I wonder what differences are there from K24 pistons to K20 pistons. Maybe some cylinder work?
Hmm...need to make some phone calls to Hong Kong for parts.
What you guys think??

the k24a2 is at the limit for piston speed due to its very long stroke(actually higher than the older s2000's f20c...the new f22c liter has less piston speed than the f20c)

as for the difference between the k24 and k20 pistons...i'm sure the k20a2 has a higher compression ratio as it makes 100hp/liter...it would have pistons to help raise the comp ratio...it may give a bump to the k24 engines...but that's a lot of work

definitely not worth it for the likely gains you will get...

Depends on what you care about. If you did a straight swap (engine/tranny) with a 200hp rsx-s you'd get a new machine that was several tenths(estimates are .3x) faster in the quarter mile. You'd also have tons more torque for daily driving. Do that with a car using the k20a3 and you are really talking some big gains.

If you notice all the major tuners are no longer making k20a1 cars...they are making their rsx/civics into k24 machines. The only reason is there is more upside to be had, especially when you go the turbo charging route.

Can't. K20 has a smaller bore than a K24.

Hmm. Based on what you'll think there would be no gain?
When people use the famous B20 + vtec head. It beat out type-Rs. So I don't see why there will be no gain.

TinkySD...is right about using the K24 will have more torque gains. Just like how in B series. Again, people using B20+vtec head was a BEAST!!!!

sauceman...even the DC5 is smaller? Hmm then I wonder how people did it? re-sleeving??

The Skunk2 RSX Racecar uses this K24 block with K20 head combo...

thought about that. pistons and heads are not a major problem as they can be custom built without too much difficulty. "i think", the hard part will be the ECU. apparently, no one is working on that part and we cant just swap in a DC5 or EP3 ECU into our car with all the extra eletronics that needed to be controlled, i.e. throttle, VSA. Or, find some really good tuner, i mean a really good one and have him program a piggy back ECU for you.

If you have any success, please let me know!!

Oh yeah. For sure. No one saids that it's just going to be a drop in job. I wish it was. I know it's going to take a lot of time, testing and tuning until it'll actually work well.

if they are using a k20 head then they are using a k20 ECU that oi\has been remapped or a standalone. no way are they using the TSX ecu. i would love to try this mod. just for the fact that with the TSX we have no way to change our fuel and vtec maps. because of the drive by wire. i tried hookin up the apex vafc II it wont work. i used the acura ECU trouble shooting guide as a refereve for where the pins where. the electronic throttle is fuckin us over and i want to get rid of mine badly

do 7th gen accords have DBW? I read somewhere on v6performance.net about a guy using avafc-II said he had a workaround for the dbw.

Here is a post from a thread on v6performance.net
Thanks a lot everyone!
It cost me 310 for the VAFC shipped. I got it off eBay and to tune it it's another $85. I got it done in DRT Racing in Woodside, NY (queens). I have the diagram how to install it. It's not that hard, just that they throttle wire has to be connected to accelerator and not throttle because 7th gens have drive by wire throttle and that complicates the issue.
The ground wires basically replace the stock wires and mount to the same grounding points. If the wires are thicker they decrease the loss of power that is lost by grounding. Like parasithyc loss that happens with underdrive pulleys. But in my opinion it's BS, they just look good, and if they give you anything, it'll prob be not more than 2whp or so.
I'm still waiting for Comptech downpipe and UR pullies. Hope to have 250whp

YOu can go here to see the two threads referencing drive by wire
