Question Brembo brake upgrade help needed

hello everyone - i searched the archives today for a while and could not find the answer to my question... I am looking to see if anyone has installed the Brembo big brake kit from the Subaru STI / 350Z Comp / G35.

I have the opportunity to pick them up from a car what was totaled and for the price its hard not to especially as I am going to need a brake job soon anyhow. The calipers are the gold ones from the Subaru.

SO the questions is... has anyone done this upgrade or ever seen it on a TSX (stock wheels) ?!

Thanks in advance for the help!!

of course they wont fit. the brackets wont be the same. why parts arnt universal from one car to the next or they would be super cheap. come on now use some common sense.

well actually... i was looking for some useful information... not a smart ass comment, but thanks for being a dick.

The brackets wont fit (different car obviously) but those are easy to get. The question was if the entire brake assembly would fit inside of the stock wheels and if anyone has attempted such an install.

i doubt it will fit too cause it is a different caliper size then used in the tsx brembo kit.

gotta worry about compatible caliper size, rotor size, width, brackets, getting the fluid lines, etc. too much hassle when you consider there are BBKs already made for our car.

why not find out the dimensions of that caliper you're getting and compare to the ones made for the TSX. if the depth is similar, and the TSX kit fits stock, then you should be good

I don't think an apprentice can demote someone higher than them.

As I know Brembo does have a kit for TSX (part nr 1A1.6017A) .
Why do you try to fit a kit from another car ?
Sorry, if I missed the point ?

Well... the brakes are off of an STI that got an upgrade. I am basically getting the brakes for free - and am trying to get an idea if I could even use the brakes on the TSX.

At this point - it looks like I am going to have to just give it a shot and see what happens.

brembo calipers are pretty much universal... it's just the bracket that makes them different from one car to the next... go to a machine shop to see if they can make a bracket... i have a set of brembo's laying around at a friend's shop... i was thinking of doing the same thing but got lazy...

welcome to a-zine

If you want some cheap brembos, look for a set of JDM DC5R brembo. Pretty much a direct bolt on I think....is that a useful comment?? HAhaha

If it's basically for free...then why not try to sell the sti brembos to a wrx owner, and then use that money toward a big brake kit made specifically for the tsx?

it will fit if you have the right offset of wheels, new brackets made, brake lines. you will have to see how width are the rotors and what size of rotors in diameter the calipers can fit. And the other thing i dont think brembo calipers from DC5R will fit perfectly without custom made brackets. if i remember correctly, our cars have 140mm between the mounting hole of stock calipers where as DC5R has different distance holes. hope it help.
