AutoEnginuity scan tool

I've been looking for a replacement for my current PDA base scan tool and decided to try out this PC base version. http://www.autoenginuity.com

Some of the features I like about this one are configurable data sampling rates, unlimited data logging, wideband O2 sensor support, lambda reading, multiple sensor display and perfomance analyzer. It should be fun.

If anyone else is interested in getting one, don't buy it off the web site. Go to ebay and buy it from the same company and save some $.

JTso, don't remember if your old one worked with our DBW, but does this one show correct TPS values?

My old one doesn't correctly register the DBW throttle position. I'm hoping this one does as their recent release of v4.0 has implemented more sensor support. The other good thing is future software update is free. We'll see.

Cool! You have the Brockway and the AutoEnginuity? How do you like it?

I'm a newb to "tuning", so bear that in mind as I ask this. With all the information that a scan tool this powerful provides, other than diagnosing repairs, what do you do with the information? In other words, a/f ratio or throttle position or etc., if you you know what it is, what do you do with that without a programmable ecu?

Not trying to be a smartass, just curious if I'm missing something.

Actually, you probably won't need it if you have a programmable ECU because most programmable units come with their own software to read the same amount of info plus others. The scan tool is most useful for hobbyists who like to tinker with cars and curious about the performance works they've done. Some scan tools have more features than others depending on ones need. The AutoEnginuity has a few performance programs which should be fun to play with after certain modification and it does support wideband O2 sensor and data logging. Because this particular scan tool monitors more components, it does take longer to be ready after making the connection. If I simply want to read codes, I usually use my PDA scan tool which boots up faster but with limited features.

I figured that might be the answer -- it's interesting feedback on modifications you're making. Maybe you'll change the nature of a mod slightly and see what changes -- IAT, O2 sensor info, 0-60 acceleration, etc. -- as you tweak mods. More precise butt dyno. Cool, thanks JTso.
