Anyone with smoked out oem grill?
I have my oem grill sitting in my room collecting dust so thought about doing something new to it. I kind of got the idea from the Tlster04's TL (smoked out grill) and wondering if anyone has done this or thought about doing this?
Here is the picture of Tlster04's smoked out grill.
can someone try to ps our grill like this? I really want to see how it looks...
thanks,

Wow Tony, that looks awesome! I dont know, I still like your mugen Grill. I know there are a few Non-AZ TSX owners I see around UW, so YOURS definitely stands out with the MUGEN grill + OEM body kit! I say TEIN Basics + Advan Kruezers or G-Games Sidewinders would complete the sporty theme you have going!
Did the TL owner get it painted or or use smoke tint?

How is this Rice? BMW guys use Carbon Fiber trim for their grills and/or get black painted ones. How much do you know about BMW modding?
Plus they de/rebadge like crazy with DINAN / AC Schnitzer emblems. If our Acura Embem was more attractive like BMW's, I would leave it alone, but its part of the grill so its open to Modification as long as its done tastefully.

That looks pretty sweet. I have a friend with a Mazda Speed Protege and he used the tint spray on his chrome grill and emblem and it looked really hott. I'll see if I can find some pics.
Also, this is kind of off topic, but does anyone know if the TL grills fit on our cars, they look way better IMO

This looks pretty nice actually.
And its nowhere near rice Its just paint, and its done right...And really most people who put in the mugen grill paint the trim to color match anyway, so its kind of the same idea.

I thought about this too but I like it better with everything blacked out.

I spend 2 much time here
actually the paint my autobody shop used on my tsx when i had to have some work done appears to be far superior to the OEM paint. So i'm not really worried about it chipping. would they have to sand down the chrome parts to make the paint stick?

Mine is pretty close but you just need to black out the the left over chrome.
I painted my center fin with standox paint. I tried to match it as closely as possible to avant garde gray (factory grille color) nh655m but it was not listed among the other color codes for honda so we invented our own but it was not too good of a match. I thought about what you are interested in but since I have the trim on my front lip I didnt do it.

To get the paint to bond well to the surface you should prep it by sanding it
down with some 600 grit wet sanding paper wraped around a flat sponge or sanding block also some soapy water and keep it wet all the time while sanding. sand the suface using long strokes until you get a even, hazy look. Then get some pre cleaner to wipe off all the debris and finger oils and dry off using compressed air . next hit it up with some bulldog(R) dont let it dry and hit it with some coats of primer then you could wet sand again with 600 and then pre cleaner and some compressed air then paint a 3-4 light coats the color of choice and then if you want you can wet sand again or just throw on 2 light coats of clear wait 5-7 min between coats (dont let it dry) then one thick final coat and let dry. After 24 hours wet sand it with 1500 evenly then 2000 evenly and then buff is to a shine using whatever you want.
