Anyone install back-up supplemental lights?

The back-up light on this car does nothing to light up behind the car. I live in the boonies it gets pretty dark out around here.

Has anyone installed supplemental back-up lights?

Maybe not, but it's the only one you're going to get from him.
You could do something quite novel and install some of the 1W single white LEDs in the bumper - waterproofing them by using some sort of enclosure and silicone sealant.
Could be made to look acceptable.

You could maybe get some slim lined LED fogs and tuck them under the bumper tastefully, wire them to the back up lights and that'd be bright! and not half bad looking

you could but make sure it doesnt turn out to be one those redneck turck crap. I would go with some small ones so that it doesnt stick out as much.

How about installing a street light near your driveway?

Roxxor - I will give the 7443 a try - they o not get any hotter than the OEM's do they?

PJS - that's not a bad idea. I found this LED - small and unobtrusive

http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/bolt_specs.htm

Any idea if they will be bright enough and throw light far enough?

LoveMyTSX - But how about other places - carry the lamp post with me? Seriously, street lights are not allowed in my neighborhood.

a single led is not going to give you anything noticable. i would say trying new bulbs is the best. stay away from street glow bulbs as they get really hot.

There are supplemental backup lamps from manufacturers like PIAA and Raybrig, but I'm sure there are cheaper non-JDM alternatives too.

Yea, I guess the street light on the back of your car would look goofy. No streets lights in a neighborhood??? Never heard of that. Hope you find something that workds for you.

honstly, its not going be bright enough to see it because the location is way too low. It won't make that much differences.

Won't these work for you? Or are they too ugly? You really don't have a choice like S14 n Tsx said... it's either going to be a lot of custom work or they'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Kuri and S14 n TSX agreed. I was just making an observation. I will give the 7443 bulbs a try.

Not that I know of, they just emit a brighter light. I've had mine in now for almost a week and I love the fact that at night when I'm backing out of my driveway, both the side of my house and the neighbor, plus the area behind where I'm backing up is lit up like I was using my headlights

I was a Pep Boys looking for bulbs to replace my back up bulbs, and the table said they should be 7440. Did you make a typo, or did you intentionally go to 7443? I would have done a comparison, but the didn't have any of either size bulb.

7440 and 7443 bulbs are the same size. The 7440 is what you need for your back up lights. The 7443 bulbs have two different intensities/levels of brightness so they can be used as a tail/brake light like on the TSX.

DLTSX6MT you beat me to the question.

Roxxor - the 7443 has two circuits/filaments - do both filaments glow? Would it be possible for you to check? Thanks.
