2006 - 2007 Euro-R Grille Question

In the picture below, can the black plastic "H" frame be removed from the grille's mesh?

Never seen one in person but that very much appears to be physically integrated into the grille.

i wonder how obvious and bad looking it would be to stick an acura A onto that grille. i know the "black plastic 'H' frame" woudl be visible behind the A emblem, but i wonder how much. Anyone with this grille and their OEM A want to get a mockup picture of this for us? please?

hey Aamir,
Unfortunately the answer is no. No, in the sense that it(the black platform part) is NOT a separate part from the slotted mesh, so it can't just be taken off. It is a continuous injection molded part. the slotted mesh does not extend behind the raised platform. Sure you can do some creative machining or very skilled dremeling to remove the platform, but then you would have machine, cast, whittle a replacement version with the aproapriate A logo contour. And then integrate the two parts seemlessly. and then refinish the finished part.

Sure that is just my opinion. but the funny thing is that is my pic you used. so you may be having the same idea I did.......My plan was to modify that black platform part to integrate an "A" logo. But after working on a bunch of concept options, I determined the cost and time to do what I wanted to do would be way too much...4x cost and weeks. Note that the Euro-R Grille "H" logo is very big compared to the 06/07 "A", so just swapping them wouldn't work well. It is probably possible to find a larger chrome "A" from one of the SUVs, not sure which one. But more importantly the frame of the Honda logo is a trapeziodal and the Acura logo frame is flattened oval - very different shapes. It's easy to overlay the two graphics in Photoshop to see the difference. Your aesthetics acceptance level may be different than mine. dunno? The shape difference means a new platform to fit the "A". gotta throw in I am an industrial designer, so this is what I think of all day.

Hopefully a better written version:

hey Aamir,
Unfortunately the answer is no. No, in the sense that it(the black platform part) is NOT a separate part from the slotted mesh, so it can't just be taken off. The black grille part, the slotted section and overall frame, iis a single (continuous) injection molded plastic part. So the slotted mesh does not extend behind the raised platform. Sure, you can do some creative machining or very skilled dremeling to remove the platform, but then you would have machine, cast, or whittle a replacement version of the platform with the appropriate "A" logo contour. And then integrate the two parts seemlessly. And then refinish the finished part.

That is quite possibly the best response I've ever received to a post I've written.

Thanks for the info!

I am really frustrated with my inability to find a grille and front lip that I like or can easily obtain in the states.

This place usually has the laziest bunch of bastards when it comes to aswering a specific or detailed question for someone. (ie: "uhhh, just do a search duuude.") So, you do a seach and come up with 37 threads of people telling people to do a seach!

Anyways, whats wrong with leaving the "H" alone? It's still way cleaner than the blinding chrome of the Acura grill, and most people that look at your car wont even pay enough attention to realize theres not supposed to be an H there.

If you think this place is bad, go to Honda tech.

but the one person that DOES matter (the driver/owner) would know that the car was mismatching, and that the front had an H and everywhere else was an A. which would be pretty ghetto if you ask me.

Doesn't seem ghetto to me really, but depends on your personal asthetic tastes. I think the JDM grill is way cleaner than the plastic fake chrome Acura grill. Ghetto to me is one that doesnt fit like stock (like the 03-05 grills)
