interesting? why are the reference points different to those of the other dynos?

looks like 25 ft/lb gain and 25 hp peak gains on the worst flashed vs best stock..

I wonder what the worst stock vs the best flashed looks like...

But really it depends on getting 3 days when I can use my GFs car.
A lot of people have had good experience with Epic Motoring. You can find their contact info in the list of hondata dealers here: List of Hondata Dealers. Ask for Kevin. He helped me out with my reflash but I did it in person instead of by mail.

The car was running on 91 octane Chevron gas, and the results diminished slightly when Mobil gas was put in. Doug, please correct me if my statements are off.
Your statements are correct. Our testing methodology is very consistent. Once you eliminate variables like starting at the same intake air temperature and coolant temperature you can normally get dyno runs repeatable to within 2 hp. However your car showed gains of a few ft pounds under 4000rpm where no changes were made in the reflash. The only variable I can see was fuel.

So - "disclaimer" Your before and after dyno results may vary by a few ft pounds from what is advertised.

05 TSX Auto Reflash:

For the maths majors amongs you. Imagine you have a combination lock with 1.2 times 10 to the power of 16 combinations and you can try one combination per second. What is the average time required to find the combination?

Although this is not the only way it may give you some insight into my oft repeated statement"
Due to the nature of the work we do we cannot give you any timeframe on any ECU reflash"

If Honda were to give us the information and we had an 05 TSX Auto, we could have the reflash done in 48 hours. That however is unlikely.

My recommendation for 05 Auto owners at this point is to consider a reflashed 04 Auto ECU coded to your keys.

381.5 million years if the last combination you try is the one that works. Methinks Acura will have a faster TSX out before then.

I wonder what it would cost to bribe a Honda engineer into releasing the source code for the ECU program.

I bet it would be easier if he owned an 05 5at.

If thats the case, how much more effort/parts, etc would be needed to upgrade to the 06? Is it just grab an 06 5at ECU, swap out the throttle body, etc? What are the other changes? Feasible, yay or nay?

If 05 5ats have to buy an ECU, might as well make it even more worth our while.

I don't understand, so Honda gave out the ECU info for the 04 and 06's but not the 05s? Shouldn't they go all or nothing, either give the info for all years or none?

There's so many 05 owners waiting for the reflash, I'm sure getting an 05 AT to test will not be a problem.

I guess all we can do is

My mistake. I thought I read it somewhere and the MT guys were pissed that theres wasn't out yet. After searching, can't find it. I saw the dyno for the AT and must of stopped reading after that. It was for the 04. I would definitely offer up my car as a test bed. I wish it had a little more to it. I don't want to give up the conveniences of the AT though.

not that alot of people care.. but does the reflash effect smog for CA residents? i think i have 4-5 years for my 1st smog check.. but when that time comes, i don't want to have to fudge shit like i have in the past with my turbo hatch.

also... as far as i recall, hondata's reflash also keeps all MIL's in function as far as pulling codes.. even from the dealer right?

That is EXACTLY what I don't understand. Even the 05 MT has a reflash available....05 AT's are hopeless.

forgive me for asking a noob question, but how would a reflash change fuel efficiency IF the style of driving before/after didn't change? i know that's a big if...

It has had no effect on my fuel efficiency as far as I can tell.

I believe it is smog legal but I can't find the source that says so. As far as pulling codes, this is staight from the hondata website:

The ECU is still a factory ECU only with some reprogramming. It should pass tail pipe sniffer (if used in your area for OBD2 cars) because the ECU is still maintaining 14.7:1 A/F ratio in closed loop mode. It should also pass OBD2 diagnostic test since all OBD2 functions are intact.

To be "smog legal" is more than actually passing an emissions check. In reality it doesn't have all that much to do with it, unlike what you might expect. It also requires CARB exemption. This would mean that Hondata pays the CA bureaucrats tons of money to get it, driving up the cost of the reflash for us even further, while it already passes emission checks in CARB-compliant states (like here in MA) just fine. No thank you.

oh, i completely understand about the carb compliance. look at shitty OBX headers.. they're like 150 bucks.. when DC sports makes a carb legal header for 400. they're going to almost produce the same header (quality differes of course) but higher prices for the exemption.

but here in california its beguining to be a pain in the ass. everytime i wanted to smog my hatch, i had to pay 200 bucks.. im working on a right hand drive CRX right now, that im thinking about doing a K swap in also..

i don't want my TSX to be another headache.

Better yet, get the reflash now and enjoy it. When a Kpro becomes available, Hondata counts some (all?) of the money you spent on the reflash toward the cost of the Kpro.
