Worth 2.5 Month wait for CG EB MT?

After owning the car for a week and a few hundred miles, I'd have to say it was well worth the wait. This is a great car and a blast to drive.

In the Chicago area, there are few MT to be found - especially in CG. The only way I got this one was via dealer trade.

One dealership had both a AT and MT for test drives so I drove them back to back. I thought the AT was great, but the MT took me back to my sports car days and I decided to wait.

During my wait time, I picked up lots of tips from the board and a few worries, but despite rattle talk and blown trannies, I forged ahead with my purchase.

One tip I picked up was the clear bra under the splash guards to protect the paint. I asked them to do this at the dealership as part of their prep. I like the splash guard look, so hopefully this will protect the paint for a while.

By the way, my cars is #18,620 with a build date of 10/31 and 5 miles on it at delivery. I had to pay sticker, but got the splash guards, tray liner and all weather mats thrown in.

Congratulations - nice color too! I think there are little purple and blue flakes in there...

Congratulations, Tomhoe! I love CG too! What a beautiful color! I think TSX in CG or NHB (which I have) look rather different and have their own beauty and character. Some days, I wish I had CG, but on most days, I am totally crazy about the NHB that I have!!!

Yes, it may not be the fastest, but it certainly is a blast to drive!

Thanks. I just couldn't be happier with this car.

Other tips I got from this forum is on break-in which I am observing. Can't wait to rev the car up a little bit.

Tomhoe, congrats. Nice choice of color. Worth the wait to get the color you wanted.

Good job on getting the clear protectant under the splash guards. I did the same thing but only after the fact as I was not aware of this problem. I also find the all weathr mats are very useful, especially at this time of the year. They fit well and have a large lip on them to keep the junk in the tray. I would also recommend the trunk tray if you dont have one. It fits really well and looks great.

I think the TSX is a sharp car in all colors but wanted a little more elegant look which I think CG Eb provides.

My only concern about the all weather mats is that they show everything. Not a big deal.

I am wondering how long the clearbra will last under the splashguards. There has been some talk here of it not being tough enough.

I got the trunk liner as well. I got one in the van two years ago and found it to be invaluable.

Tomhoe, I had a similar wait for the same combo. I was patient and got what I wanted, just like you.

I am just now getting past the break-in period, and I am thrilled every time I get behind the wheel.

I also opted for the all-season mats (which show dirt, but do well in their main purpose of protecting the rest of the car) and the trunk tray.

I think our cars are twins, except for the mud guards.

Enjoy.

I bought from McGrath. Continental is moving out to near route 59. McGrath is closer to work and they have the car wash.

The CG/Ebony was my second choice, but if one would have come in while I waited for my SSM, I'd have jumped on it. I've seen two CG's on the road since I got my car, and it's probably the best color, when clean. Everytime I see a pic of the CG/EB I second guess my decision. Oh well, it's a sweet ass car regardless of color.

Maxboost, how long have you had your TSX?

I've only seen one other CG on the road so far (last 3 mos). When I was shopping, I saw several AT on the lot (navi & non), but a non-navi 6 sp was hard to find. They looked in all the states around Il. I don't know where they finally found the dealer trade.

I am in the burbs.

Just saw a black TSX on my way to the Jewel this afternoon. She pulled into the parking lot. The woman said she has a TL but prefers to drive her husband's TSX.

I am over 600 miles now so I am letting the revs run a little higher. Even more fun.

Hey I thought I'd chime in here. I bought mine at Continental...awesome people there. I live in the city at Diversey and Ashland. I'm seeing more and more around town but nothing dramatic. There are a few in my neighborhood though.

Who was your salesperson at Continental?

I went in there a few times but they couldn't get the car I wanted. That plus they are moving way out of my way (near Aurora).

I was assigned a salesperson from the Sales Mgr, who I have a connection with through a customer of mine. Long story but the guy really took care of me. Ask for Robert Manuel (the salesman) and tell him I sent you. That should net you the car you want (via dealer trade if necessary) and a discount. He may not remember me right away (I bet he does), but once you remind him he'll warm up nicely. I was the easiest sale he ever had and I ended up showing him a few things about the car. VERY nice guy tho and he's no dummy.

#18,620. Does that mean that Acura has already exceeded their 15,000 unit limit for 2004?

Yeah, I they blew by 15K some time ago. There is another thread on this site related to the production quantity. 15K was a goal I think, and with the positive press and favorable owner experience, they went over 15K. As long as people keep buying them, they will keep making them.
