-I know it's a illegal but my window are also.
-What would be the ideal percentage for doing the windshield.
-Right now I Have a straight 20%.
-To me it feels to light. I was thinking like 35% but I don't know if that would be to dark.
Here what the TSX look like now

i don't know how you calculate it, but here in NY the lower the percentage the darker it gets, with that said 35% is lighter than 20%. followed by 5% which is limo black i don't think you want it that dark, if the 20% you have its ok i would leave it just as it is!
im sry i dont want to sound mean but that seems kinda stupid to tint ur windsheild. how well do u think u will see at night? and like djflex167 said 20% is darker that 35%. the smaller the number the darker it is.
The 20% is fine but the windshield is has no tint on it. I'm wanting to do 35% or some percentage of some sort on the windshield i just don't know how dark or how dark is to dark. Since my window are 20% around witch is fine but what would be an Ideal percent for the windshield.
i jus dont think it is a smart idea to tint the front window. but the lighter the better. cause the 20% will off set it and make the front look darker. on my car i had 5% in the rear windows and 70% in the front window and the front ones looked alot darker than they really were.
I Understand the smaller the percent the darker.
So the thing I've gave that thought and i have tried wearing sunglasses at night and i can see just fine, also i was half asleep when i tried this. Then in the day it gets bright as hell sometime and i can't even stand it with my sunglasses so that is one reason why.
Also I'm not fallowing your to about the percentages. So I have 20% around, then if I do 35% on the windshield then my window would equal 5%.

Tinted windshield = cop magnet. As well as a bad idea in it's own right. What happens when the weather gets shitty? I'd highly advise against it. If you want to cut down the glare a bit just do a stripe along the top. 20% at the darkest.
And just for clarification, the % rating of tint is the amount of light it allows through. 5%, aka limo tint, only allows 5% of the visible light to pass through, blocking the other 95%.

I've heard of people putting a 70% metallic tint on the front windshield. This will cut the glare due to the metallic, but since it's only 70%, most people won't even know that they were even there. I've never tried this myself, so i can't say for sure, but i've heard it has been done.

i would trust everyone else's judgement on this one. Why are you driving with sunglasses at night, while you are tired?!?!
in the end...dont try to tint the front windshield, instead, invest in some better sunglasses.

If you did not know sunglasses have a tint on them so the sunglasses would represent as a tinted windshield.
You should read the from the beginning of the form to see whats going on before making a bad quote. Also i have over $1000 in sunglasses so i think i have a above fair investment in that.

if your interior is black you might want to think about it, my brother owns a 2004 TL silver with black leather interior and he have 5% all around and 35% front windshield and believe me its dark like a b!tch! when raining at night its difficult to see and when its foggy as well! during a sunny day its ok but if i were you i would go for the higher percentage like a 70% or so!
i get OPs point of why you want to tint your front windshield but taking precaution is always the best. You might be able to see out with your sunglasses but then sometimes things you are unaware of can pop out in front of you and your dark windshield might slow down your response. I recommend going lightest tint if you really have to get tinted. That being said, when I was getting my windows tinted at my tint shop, this guy was getting his windshield tinted with 60% ceramics and it almost looked clear to me. My 2cents

All the high horses and poorly written rants asides, it's still a dumb idea and your rationalization comes well short of overriding the laundry list of negatives that comes with doing this. It's your car and your life, you just better be damn sure you don't cause any problems for any one else.

A buddy read my 1st post then reply to the question i had if you can't answer that you should you know chillax. Maybe you should read the part were told one person many reasons i want my windshield tinted. If you don't where im coming from you never been in my position.
WHY CAN'T PEOPLE ANSWER THE FORM BY SAYING YES 35% IS TO DARK MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY A LIGHTER TINT OR GET DARKER WINDOWS.
I think Google would be more helpful then people like you oh wait i tried that and it is.

OK, I think any tint on the windshield is too dark. Here's why.
I have 35% on the sides and back. On a sunny day, I can see out fine. At night, backing up is doable but I have to be careful.
So here will be your problem - if it's not dark enough on the front (like 35%), you may be tempted to wear sunglasses. The combination of the two would be a disaster. If I have my sunglasses on, and look out one of my tinted windows - it's DARK, even on a sunny day. I'd never want to drive like that. So then if you go darker - like 20% - maybe you don't need the shades on a nice day but you're screwed if it's overcast or night.
I've lived in Omaha for 5 years - you don't want to mess around with your visibility with all the weather you get in the fall/winter/spring. There is no functional benefit to tinting your window that offsets the safety risk you take.
My advice - take whatever money you were going to spend on tinting the front and invest in some nice ($100-150) sunglasses. I have some ~$120 Ray Bans that do a fantastic job - not only with glare but also filter for clarity (I see better with them in the fog, for instance). You're much better off with that investment (because the summers ARE warm and sunny) than making yourself more vunerable to an accident.
Last point - if you were ever at fault for a car accident, and you had that windshield tinted, I think you also expose yourself to all kinds of liability. What if you injure someone in an accident? It doesn't take a smart lawyer to see the safety hazzard on your windshield and come after you.
