Window Tint on TSX
Window Tint on TSX
I've scanned around looking for TSXs and window tint but I haven't found much info about what others have on their TSXs.
I'm going to get my windows tinted in a couple of weeks, but I'm just wondering what tint you guys have. If possible, could people maybe post pictures with the amount of tint?
I have a black ext and black int TSX. I'm in Cali where tint laws require 30 in the front, as dark as I want in the back. But I do a lot of night driving so I want to consider that factor as well when I tint. Any recommendations? I'm pretty set on 35% for the front but the back, I'm not sure what I want to do. Thanks

Hello!
California law is 70% front and as dark as you want it in rear.
I have 35% all around and gives it that clean look
Not too light and not too dark as most people would say.
Also visible at night time.
20%-35% tint is what i've seen on these fourms.

I'm from VA and it's 50F 35R here. Depends on how strict your LEO's are there with tint. I got 2 tickets in a wk for the first time in Jan and had the tint for over a year without one gripe before. Luck of the draw I guess. I had 35% all around and loved it, miss it too. Perfect for night driving as it's still dark in general in the day but pretty visible at night, much more so than 20%.
lol....
30 percent tint
and 70 percent tint are very different numbers.
you have to make sure that you don't get % tint and % visibility mixed up because you might end up with some unhappy results from the tinter.

I lived in VA and have 35% Front and 20% Rear. It DEF looks dark especially because I have the carbon fiber outside with black interior, but I just enjoy the privacy / look on my TSX. Never had an issue with cops yet...had them on for over 4 months now, but I have heard stories you can go a year then get busted like Sortudo7 said..
Depends if you wanna dish out tickets over and over or get busted once and replace it all for a brand new tint.. if you got an Acura though, I'd say make her look as pretty as possible ;-)

I have Formula-One High Performance Film on my 07 pearl white TSX with black interior and I love it. It's not to dark due to Minnesota's lame tint regulations(I thinks its 50% or something like that) but the black interior will definitely make the tint seem darker compared to the lighter interior. I just brought mine in and said tint it as dark as I can legally go without me having to deal with being pulled over for it. Personally I like the tint to look consistent throughout the vehicle. I don't like cars with blacked out rear windows and lighter side windows. Just looks weird in my opinion. The quality of the film you use plays a huge role too. My old civic had average tint which eventually faded to a purplish color before I sold the car. I can see a huge difference in appearance with the new more expensive tint. I would do 35% all around like everyone else if I had the option.
I have 25% all around. Looks close enough to be legal, yet dark enough to be unseen. I like the way it looks. Doesn't look overly dark due to my tan interior. If you're gonna do 35% in the front, you might as well do 35% in the back. I did 35% in the front and 20% in the back with an older car, I didn't really like the mismatch after I saw it. Having the same % all around def. looks cleaner.

I just looked at the tint laws for NC-it is 32%-I know if you have tints you then have to pay an additional $10.00 when you get the annual state inspection. They are supposed to measure them to make sure they are legal.
alright, i decided to go 35 all around.
question now is, what brand? the options are: 3M or Suntek carbon. i've looked around google but there's a lot of varying opinions on it. I guess I can't expect much different but just intrigued about what other tsx owners have to say.

Whatever she got ^^^^^^ that shit is a dizope
Looks like I'm taking a real risk if I tint my front windows where I live. NOTHING ever happens so cops just hunt cars down for nothing.
Not riding a bike in the bike lane? Ticket. No blinkers when turning? Ticket. Broken taillights or headlights? Fix it ticket. And apparantly, cops in my city actually HUNT for cars that are parked on streets or in public parking and write tickets for illegal tinting. They leave the tickets like you got a parking ticket.
Now I'm questioning whether I should even get tints or not. But to me, especially on a black colored TSX, something just doesn't look right without any tints.
I agree with posters. If I'm tinting, I want it all the same all-around. I might just have to do something silly like 50-20 though since I'm not trying to get a ticket. 50's light, but even being a little darker helps the image of the car. And I'm sure 50 in the front shouldn't be a problem, especially if cops notice the difference between front and back tints.
I think that at least having 50-20, despite being mismatched, looks better than not having any tint on a NHB, right? Or what do you guys think?

I have a light interior on my car and run 38% in MN. The tint it's self is about 45 and the rest comes from the glass. you can easily see into the car thanks to the CL having a nice large greenhouse. If you are worried about going too dark and want UV protection you can get a clear tint applied to the windows that is pretty close in effectiveness in blocking uV light.
Believe it or not the interior color of your car plays a large role in how "dark" your tint looks
