Window Tint

I was getting ready to have my windows tinted and the shop warned me that since 2005, the guides/gaskets/runners at the top of the door have been replaced with hard plastic instead of the old soft rubber and felt. They said this would lead to scratches in the tint over time (unless cleaned all the time). Has anyone ever heard of this or had this problem?

I've had my tint on for over a year now, with only one scratch on my drivers side window. Everything else is fine. Some people put the mole skin felt on the rubber for protection. I have the lifetime warranty, so I can get it replaced. Try a search, this topic has been talked about quite a bit. Welcome to AZ

^^^read the warranty card. I don't think it's covered. TSXs are well known in the tint community and shops won't warranty because it's considered a factory defect to us.

nullsetzero search and you will find about 5 gazillion threads about it

is this true? I wonder if this is what Acura did to take care of the "creaking" windows problem.

Thanks for the info. The shop I was going to use has the 'lifetime guarantee' but said it didn’t apply b/c it’s not a defect in the tint.

No changes that i've seen in those doors. I havent tinted an 07, but the 04-06 all have the same hard rubber. The only thing different i've seen is the gummy crap they use to keep the plastic lining on. some of the 06s have white gummy stuff instead of black. That's about it.

That's what I thought. This was the first I've read of different, harder rubber seals and channels. Oh well
