OEM Spoiler with New Springs

Yes, I did search and there were varied opinions, so I posted.

I just had my OEM spoiler installed today at my dealer. Previously, the trunk opened about 4 or 5 inches and stayed there. Now, it opens but doesn't rise whatsoever. I know the spoiler comes with stiffer springs to compensate for the added weight, but exactly how much do these new springs open the trunk? Is what I described what the trunk should be doing with the spoiler and stiffer springs or should the trunk be opening a decent amount and staying there as if there was no spoiler at all?

I just want to find out so I can get back to the dealer and have them correct the issue. I think they never swapped springs, but I want to make sure before sounding like an idiot.

Thanks.

My trunk doesn't open all the way either when I hit the button from the remote and I have a spoiler, as well.

I had that same issue with my 1997 Civic. I think that the springs should be adjustable to some extent.

Of course, with the Civic, as soon as I wasn't on a flat surface (i.e. the car was pointing up a hill, even a very slight one), the trunk wouldn't stay open either, due to the added weight of the spoiler. Pissed me off for 10 years...

So,it would appear the stiffer springs aren't stiff enough or they're only as stiff as needed to open the lid.
Now, when someone puts an Audi A6 motorised mech on the Accord/TSX, then I'll be as excited as a very excited thing.

So, it seems this is normal with the new springs, then? Damn.

In 2003, I had my OEM spoiler installed with the new springs and it opens the 4 inches. They aren't "springs" they are torsion rods btw. They twist upon one another when closed and release the tension upon opening. I now have shocks opening my trunk.

Same here. I bought my car with the spoiler installed and it just opens but does not rise.

I've take mine off before... WATCH OUT!! The tension they can hold is incredible.

The real issue should be if the trunk lid stays in the fully raised position. As long as the trunk lid opens, I don't see a problem with it raising 4 inches, 3 inches, or 1/2 inch. On my Jetta, when I activate the trunk release, it doesn't rise more than 1/4 inch, but it stays up when fully opened.

Mine opens 5 or 6 inches, every time. Maybe they didn't put the new springs in?

anyone know if it's possible to just buy the springs? I don't have a spoiler but I want to apply some dampening sheets to my trunk which would significant weight to it.

Is there any visual difference in the setup pre-spoiler and after? Just trying to find a way to make sure these are the correct ones in there after the spoiler was installed.

Thanks.
