Why tint?

I see a lot of posts regarding applying tint. What are the pros and cons of tint?

What is the primary purpose? Does it not restrict visibility at night?

I would put the reasons in this order:
1) Style
2) To prevent sun from shining directly on you
3) Security from people looking into your car

Yes it does restrict the amount of light during the day and night but so long as you don't go crazy with super dark tint you'll be fine. 35% is perfect IMO.

Exaclty what he said, the main reason I got tints, is because i think it makes the car look better, and i dont want people seeing me when im in it, lol. I got 20's, still too light in my opinion.

to keep your car from getting so hot, from keeping your interior from fading from the sun

it does restrict visibility a lil, depending on what percentage tint you get, obviously, the lower the percentage of the tint, the harder it will be to see out of.

if you get legalized tint (35% front two windows, 20% in the back window and rear window) you'll be fine for the most part.

What percentage would you get if you had it to do over? 25, 30, 35?

he would have to get a lower percantage tint if he wanted it darker.

I got 20% in the back and 35% up front....even with the 35% sometimes i find it hard to see at night when traveling on roads that are dimly lit.

I thinki 20% all around would look great, if you can see at night

The tint actually enhances outside images during the day. Images seem much sharper when compare to looking out through the windshied. It's kind of like wearing sunglasses. However, the very dark tint also affects visibility during night time, especially when you are backing up.

pros, imo
looks. It looks great on a dark car
Easier to drive. Less sun glaring in from the sides and back. Including reflecting off the side mirrors.
Keeps it cooler. C/G with ebony interior...nuff said.
keeps the inside from fading to due the sun.

cons
At 18% my dimming rearview mirror is no longer needed. Too bad it was kind of cool to watch it dim :P
It was slightly harder to see at night when turning onto an unlit road but I don't even notice it anymore.
If you go too dark theres a chance of getting pulled over.

I must've gotten a good tint place because there's no scratches on mine and I've had it on the car for about a year. I also have no problems with radio or nav reception since the tinting.

haven't seen this one: keep people from seeing inside your car, parked or while driving.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, is that it actually helps at night, IMO. Cuts down on the annoying glare from headlights.

I've had 20% tints on my last four cars, TSX included, and I love it. You'll get used to any issues with nighttime driving.

I know there is a light tinting standard on the TSX already. Does anyone have those numbers so i can compare the 35% and 20% to what is already on the car?
