Who here adores the TSX but found the TL so so...

I was quite disappointed with the new TL. Everything about it seems non-offensive, but it just didn't do it for me. On the other hand, I turn my ahead at least a few times when I see a TSX on the road. It has perfect proportions and the interior ergonomics is best in class. I don't see why anyone could dislike it.

Having said that, I'm off to purchase an E90 325i this week because of performance only. It was a hard choice because the TSX was the total package for well under 30k (the Acura dealer I went to said all the salesmen call it a "swiss army knife"), but the subtle difference in power sold me. If it had a V6 (yes, I know - increased price and worse fuel econonmy, higher insurance, etc.) I would have tagged it for sure.

Don't know why Acura only produces a handful for the States. The lot was FULL of TL's and only a few TSX's (mostly manual - live in Northern VA and no matter how much you love stick, it sucks in this traffic...).

Enjoy your 325! I gotta say, I saw two today, and they are handsome.

I find the TL has a more modern look, but I like the TSX better. The TL is just lightly overboard for me and looks more "porky".

Can you order your 325 with 18" wheels? 17" looks too small for that car, 18" changes everything, it makes it look awesome.

i would pick TSX over 325i, if it's a 330 then it's different story

however 330i is a lot more money than a TSX

I love the TL and I love the TSX... But I prefer the sportiness of the TSX.
My experience with BMW though. But the new 3 series looks nice.

The new 3 series is a decent looking car. However... i would definately recommend staying away from the first year production models especially bmw's. When i had my 540 i was a regular on a bmw forum website. When the new 5's came out in 04 it was a disaster. One huge thing was this "active steering" function where the computer would change the steering ratios between highway speeds and local roads. Quite a few members reported going off of a highway offramp and going through the turn when all of the sudden the dash gave a "active steering failure" warning and then all of the sudden the steering went numb and hard to turn. That could have been catostrophic if that had happened in the middle of a busy intersection.
Then there have been stories of people going into the dealer to fix a certain function and the dealership would upload a new version of the software into the car's computer. Then all of the sudden the power mirrors would not function anymore.

Like i said... the new 3 and 5 are awesome cars. Far ahead of their time. I just wouldn't by the 1st model year on a car that sophisticated.

dun feel it is ne better on 2nd year model! My 2nd year production E46 already on its 3rd tranny, 2nd Vanos, 4th set control arms, nth window motor, 2nd sunroof, nth oxygen sensor, 3nd air pump, 3 set of hand brake shoes, 2nd windshield washer tank....... can't remember all of them! I just remembered I spent $15k + after warranty works and man! my warranty was expired on Jan 04! Now I now my sunroof rack is broken again, windshield tank leaking again and very worry about sub-frame cranking!

I hate the TL for some reason. It looks like one of Voltron's legs. Obviously I love the TSX, I think it has the best blend of smooth lines and sharp edges to make it look sporty and modern.

BMW's are cool and all, but there is just something about being able to tell the car what to do and having it do it that keeps me interested

Yesterday me and the family went out and test drove the following cars Back to back with NO SALESMAN riding with us...

2005 IS300
2006 GS300
2005 TL
2005 TSX w/NAV

After it was all said and done, what FITS perfect for us was the TSX. It was NOT tooo big and NOT too small..It had all the gadgets we need (But the GS 300 was definitely on top when it came to Bells and whistles) and it was the LOWEST PRICED of all of them.

The only complaint I have is that it needs JUST A BIT more torque and not too much High Revving to get "some" power and smoothnes.

But it is at the TOP RANKS right now.

ROTFL

I love the TL, but it seems they are EVERYWHERE in California. Even more common than Accord.

I like the front of the TL, but after that it get's kinda boring to me. I'm not very fond of the tail lights. They just look weird shaped. The inside is pretty nice.

not me. i love the tl almost as much as the tsx. i'd have the perfect car if i had tsx styling and handling with tl size, power and features. in the end, the tsx suited my needs more than the tl and for less money.

although, i think the tl with the oem kit looks just as good as the tsx with the oem kit. if you don't think so, try spending some time in the a-tl's gallery.

I could've gotten a TL but opted for the TSX because of looks and size. Way sportier looking and its smaller.

test drove a TL, absolutely HATE it. That was after I test drove a G35... The handling is just not there. Then I tried TSX, well... not V6, but it somehow gives a faster feel than TL, and its look is 1000x sportier.

TL to me, is like a tank, or an upscaled Camery or with the size and shape of Toyota Avalon... big, very US-made like.

Aspecally the front, looks like cheap plastic. Compare to TSX, TL is just lame...

We just rented a 2005 TL, and we preferred the handling of the G35 which we rented in July. So it's between the G & the TSX for us (great handling/more power/ poor fuel economy vs. great handling/less power/cheaper/better & slightly smaller interior/better navi/aux. jack in the 06 model, YES !!!) Both are made in Japan, another plus for us.

We're not sure if we should add the IS250 AWD to the list ?!?

I came from a C36 AMG and I was close to getting a G35. (Staying away from BMW's cause my brother's 5 series was a lemon and my good friend's E36 was problematic. I think every E36 after a few years will have all the dash lights come on and the dealer still will say that they have no clue why it's on and to just leave it, oh and my best friend has a yellow Z3, that is trouble. Shifter sticks and pops off, leaks, etc...). The biggest thing that sold me was......

PRICE OF GAS.

My cousin just bought a G35 and regrets it now because it drinks gas. I warned her before she bought it. Oh well, i'll stick to my 600+km per tank TSX.

I had an 05 TL loaner for a few days while I was waiting for my TSX. I didn't care for the size or the price but other than that I loved it! For about the first week or two after I got the TSX, all I could think was "I want the TL back."

The IS250 would be at the top of my list, ahead of the 325.

Are you sure the quality made in Japan vs. made in Ohio is that much different?

So, if the TL were made in Japan and priced at around 31K , how many of you would've bought the TL?
