Whistling sound in the engine

I've noticed a whistling sound coming from the engine at sustained high speeds (over 70mph). When I give it some more gas it gets louder, and when I let off the gas it's quieter.

It sounds like it's something in the intake system.

So, I was wondering if this is normal, or might there be a problem that needs to be checked.

Any ideas?

possibly have a leak somewhere in one of the connector joints or something stuck in the intake path.

i drive with my radio on like all the time so maybe i'm just not hearing it. I would also check to make sure all the trim around the a pillars and the base of the windshield are firmly attached.(go around and push on them all)

could be the VTEC ?

whilst I sold my Prelude and my Euro Accord came I borrowed by Brothers Daihatsu Sirion several times the "vtec whistle" was very noticable in a small car.

VTEC is dependent on RPMs, not speed. My guess is wind noise.

the original poster said when he gave it more GAS it was louder hence the RPMs would rise.

I don't think it's the VTEC, since (AFAIK) it doesn't kick in until revs > 6000.

It's not the windshield, or wind entering the car. It's definitely a sound in the engine. It's not very loud, but noticeable. I only heard it on interstates during a long road trip, when the radio was off.

I'm not really too worried about it. The car's about a 1000 miles away from its next oil change, and I'll mention it to the dealer when I take it in (I doubt if they'll even try to find it).

i would like to know what this is also because I get it on my '98 Accord. I'm thinking it's coming from the intake.

vtec doesn't "kick in" its more gradual and with the redline at 7000 I think it would be working b4 then
