Where have you mounted electronics?? (such as an iPod)
Ok, so I'm looking for a place to mount my iPod in my '06 TSX. I am currently using the Belkin Tunedok, but hate the fact that it takes up both my cupholders. It is also not deep enough to sit all the way inside the holder, so it's kind of just 'floating' in there.
The only stipulation would be that it needs to be accessible for changing tunes while driving, not too far out of the way.
my question:
Where have you guys mounted electronics such as the iPod? Any special mount or material you guys know of to make the job easier? I would love some input, and would appreciate pics of your setups. Remeber, I'm looking for ANY kind of electronics not just iPods. Basically I'm trying to find a surface that would be suitable in the TSX and have come up kind of short.
THANKS GUYS!

thanks for the reply, moda.
I've considered that, but really would like to be able to have access to it w/out leaving that compartment open or having to open it everytime i want to fiddle with the sound.
i have a very short attention span music-wise.

Check out the Kuda mount. Any universal mount can attach to it, including one that will fit an Ipod. They have different colors to match each TSX interior.

I use the 2nd one for my Treo 650. My iPod uses a combination of a holder from here and something I made.

For my iPod I put it in the top tray of the center storage (armrest) area. Belkin autodock / line-out through dock connector goes to below, and then to a GLI, then to the AUX in.
I put a Griffin AirClick on top of it and clipped the remote to the stap on the driver's sun visor. I can reach up to change iPod tracks or pull the remote down to use it and pass it around.

I cut a piece of acrylic the same shape as the bottom of the storage bin below the radio to hold my iceLink dock for my iPod. I then drilled a hole just large enough for the round mini-DIN plug that runs into the iceLink which is hidden behind the storage bin and links up to the AUX jack in the radio.
When I get in the car, I just pop the storage bin lid, slide the iPod into the dock and off I go. Sure I don't get to see the screen, but I found the display so hard to glance at while I was driving that I'd rather leave it out of sight. If I want to change tracks, I just hit the controls on the radio or steering wheel, and if I want to play a playlist or something else out of the range of the iceLink's control, I just pull the iPod out and scroll to what I want and then plug it back in. The iceLink then continues playing what I chose.

thanks for the input everyone.
so far, i like the proclips most BUT it does seem like it would be quite a stretch if I wanted to change songs, etc.. Bu so far, it seems like that's the only option if I want to be able to see the display (a must for me)
I hate it when such a simple thing gets so complicated.

My plan is to put it on the left side of the dashboard, near the A-pilar. Just make a (standard) apple dock with double sided tape and stick it on the dashboard, and cleanly lead all the wires between the door and dashboard. In my opinion it's a good position to see the display...and be able to control the ipod...and easy to put in/put out.
But have to order an ipod first

So I am several months late joining this party/thread
Well, been quite a while since I surfed on AZ anyway...
I just installed a plastic clip-on holder which I will be using to mostly hold my iPod Nano + iTrip. This is my first vent clipping holder for anything on any car I've had... so far so good (after couple short trips around town).

Maybe sometimes will use it to hold my Moto L2 phone - I usually put the L2 in the driver side door handle (interior, of coures!). I use BT headset while driving... I no longer use the Samsung E638 and this is how I used to "mount" that phone and just used its speakerphone - my old thread

how well does the griffin airclick work? does it interfere with bluetooth at all, or is it a different RF frequency? also, does it allow you to control the menu of the ipod at all?
