Where to get car serviced?

Wondering how important it is to get my TSX serviced at the dealer as opposed to a shop? Up for my 10,000 service and it will run me about $30 at a private shop and $125 at the dealer. Opinions?

10,000 should just be oil and tires, get it done at the shop and save the cash

Hello.

Just had the same questions myself and posted a thread about the situation.

Here is the link. Hope it helps you.

Right now I am thinking going to the dealer for the 10K service. That dealer stamp is pretty important in the book plus I do need a few other things looked at.

I would say if you need a few items looked at, sure go in to the dealer, but the dealer stamp is meaningless to me. I keep DETAILED records of all the service I do to the car, which would be all someone would want to see upon resale.

I agree with moda on the idea of keeping DETAILED records of what you did to your car and when.

I have a great file with everything on my TSX. It's the little stuff that helps when it's time to sell it.

also.

If you DIY then you need to keep a detailed record so that, in the event you need warranty service in the future, there won't be any question whether the TSX was maintained properly.

Got my 10K service done and the car is back from the dealer.

Over $100 later the car is done. I got pounded!!!

But I did get to sit in a new SI....so I guess that helps.

While we're on the subject, can Acuras be serviced at a Honda dealer? They're building a new one close to work and it would be really convenient....

They can be but I've read that some Honda dealerships won't service an Acura if there is an Acura dealership in the area.

:cough: I better remove the entries in the maintenance book where I have the Hondata refresh and other misc. mods installed. People might mistaken it as poorly maintained.

One of the Honda dealers in town doesn't mind, the other one won't touch the TSX. That's odd IMO!

Especially since the last new car our Acura dealer here in town sold was a 2 door Legend!!!

HAHAHA...

But seriously, if I can't make it the hour to my dealer I would for sure go to the local Honda dealer over the local Acura dealer.

Does anyone know of any shops in Orange County that'll perform the oil change and allow me to provide the oil (instead of purchasing it from them)?
