Where do you stick your EZ Pass?

Hi all

Just wondering for those of you who have a EZ Pass on your front windshield, where do you hang it? If you have pics please post. It looks like I'll be heading out to Dulles every now and then for work and I need to buy this.

TIA

I got mine just to the right of my rear view mirror also. If I remember the "directions" that come with the EZ Pass tell you where it should be placed. With were mine is, I don't even see it when I have it mounted, the mirror hides it completely.

i shove mine in the glove box. i don't use it often, and i've heard stories of people actually stealing them. if i need it, i'll just take it out of the glove box as i'm approaching the toll booth.

+1

Unfortunately my windshield was busted by a paint shop almost a year ago and since its replacement the box hangs down almost into view (Velcro issues...)

Like the others, mine's to the bottom right of the rearview mirror..it's for the most part hidden behind the tint on the top of the windshield. I didn't want to stick that adhesive tape on my windshield, so I bought one of those EZ-Pass suction cup holders from R&S for $5...

You may want to be careful, particularly if you have Open Tolling (no toll booth, you pass under arches that record the device). When the car was new and before I had time to install the device, I was doing what you are, holding the device up to the window. Works fine when you can see if the device has been recognized, like at a toll booth. But with Open Tolling, you can't see.

I was recorded as not paying the toll under Open Tolling on three occasions. I managed to get off without a ticket, just the toll payment deducted from my account. But it took two telephone calls.

Since Iv'e had the device mounted on my windshield, the only times I've noticed it has been when I was cleaning the inside of the windshield. Have to unfasten it to do a thorough cleaning. Not a big deal.

As to the theft possibility, I assume that you lock your glove box all of the time. I don't have anything of value in mine so I leave it unlocked.

Try doing that going to PA from jersey there is a gate and your e-zpass has to be in the right place at the right time or the gate does not open. My e-z pass that was held on by the suction holder decided to fall off just as I approached the ez-pass-car only booth. The gate would not open. Picked up the ezpass, put it back on and then had to back the car up so it would register it. Also try doing that with manual transmission while holding the ezpass.

Mine is a little to the right of the rear view mirror, and all the way up, as far as it goes, into the tinted part of the glass. I don't even see it when I'm driving and it's not visible from outside the car unless you get up really close.

Keep mine in the storage bin under the stereo. I use it 4 times a day, I just hate the way it looks from the outside when it's tacked up on the window.

You really barely have to hold it up, I just hold mine on the top of the steering wheel when I'm going through and it works every time. No reason to mount it unless you're forgetful

i should've clarified-when i need it, i physically take it out of the glove box and the metallic bag, hold it up to the winshield and zip through.

i keep it in the bag so if, say, i go near a toll, it won't accidentally charge me.

Those tags won't work if you go "near" a toll, you have to pass under it for it to activate/read. The only situations you should ever need to use the bag is if you are mailing it back to the service center, transporting the tag through a toll booth for someone else, or if you wanted a ticket for some bizarre reason(like to leave the turnpike at an open gate for "authorized personnel only", haha)

I keep mine just to the right of the rear view, out of my view. Only about an inch of the bottom is even visible from the outside of the car, the rest is concealed by the visor in the top of the windshield.

I wouldn't want a front license plate tag one, seems like someone could just steal that no problem in <1 minute if they had the tools.

my guess is a special type of electronic card that pays for the toll automatically at toll booths...

it for those people who have to take toll roads everyday for work...etc...

I got a question for you guys...I just got ezpass, and im about to make a trip down to NC (outer banks). I put my ezpass right next to my rear view mirror. When I looked at it from the outside, I realized I placed it where the factory tint strip is or whatever it is to block the sun from hitting your eyes. Will this obstruct the ezpass from being seen when going through?

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is more than half in the tint behind the rear-view mirror on the passenger side of the car and I've never had a problem.

i travel from NC to NJ and back every few weeks. No problems with the e-z pass. What way are you going? The shorter route would be GSP south and take the ferry but I never do that-route 95 4 me.

right behind my rearview mirror on the left side, I bought a suction cup thing and it stays there all the time. No need to take it down everytime you get out of the car either...since its linked to a certain account, and since they record everyone passing under tolls, nobody is gonna steal it cause then they'll just get caught when you report it.

I used to use the adhesive that came with the ez-pass. I then bought the suction cup one at a car wash (they sell car goodies) as I thought it would be easier to move from one car to another. It works great but has fallen off the windshield. (under certain weather conditions)

I have the front license plate one. Whats the big deal about it? Theft? You're an idiot if you steal someone's EZ-Pass. I don't know about any of you but I have gotten a couple toll tickets in the mail in the past and every time that toll booth took a picture of both my plates and my car I was driving. Now suppose some scofflaw decides to take it upon himself to break out a screwdriver and pull my tag off and then drive off into the sunset, or worse, NY(there's like 10 tolls from south GSP through north GSP). I can guaranteee you that the toll will take a pic of both the car and his plates. All you have to do is report it. EZ-Pass is almost like having a really watered-down version of Lo-Jack
Anyway, I keep the spot behind and to the right of my mirror occupied w/ my harwired Passport RD
