I don't think I smell it anymore (1.5 years), but I believe that has more to do with being desensitized. My girlfriend still smells it so I guess it's still there!

I stopped smelling mine shortly before 2 months (probably had only 1k miles on it). I never opened the windows, and I always left the recirculate mode on.

Now all I smell is the leather conditioner that I used on my seats.

All the new car smell is chemicals and stuff left over from the car manufacturing process. I would think that if you're smelling it, you're breathing in something not so healthy.

Obviously, if you guys are still smelling it, you guys aren't treating your cars well (using leather conditioner on the seats, etc). And if you do use the stuff, then what you're smelling is the conditioner....

It took more than 2 years before I lost the new car smell. My trick is don't let anyone eat inside and use plenty of 1Z Cockpit cleaner.

^ It took about 2 years and 20000 miles to remove that smell. Also due to the fact that I eat and fart in my car now

But I think it lasted long due to the fact that I detailed the interior at least 3 times every two months.

Much like others, I use the wipes and it keeps things happy inside. I also get a new car about every year, so I'm not the best source for long-term results. I do still see the 2004 one I had (that now my brother has) about every week or so. He uses the wipes too, and the car is still fresh. Mind you the first TSX I had was delivered 04.03.03 with the first batch. It has about 40k miles on it now and is still in perfect shape inside and out.

Moda, what method do you use to apply your Zaino leather conditioner (assuming that's what you use). I love the smell and how it conditions, but it doesn't seem to go on smoothly, and then I end up seeing where I've applied it in streaks. The directions say just to rub on, no buffing necessary. I detailed yesterday and applied with a clean, dry microfiber cloth and this morning when I got in my car, I can definitely see where I applied a little more in some places than others. Any suggestions?

2.5 years and 35K miles and its still got it...more subdued for me now but people when they first get in my car always comment on it. No special stuff done with the leather either.

it's a great feeling, isn't it? Glad to know that if I keep my car clean the way I do, that it'll still smell like that years down the road.

PM'd you back.

For other, I use the Zaino applicators and it takes a bit of time to get used to applying the correct amount and I only use it on the front/rear seats. I use 303 protectant on everything else.

For some reason, this thread reminded me of the one titled, "I ripped one in my TSX"

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22829

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and I think I cleared out all the new car smell or what was left of it

Sorry but I have to disagree. My TSX is a 2004 with 36k miles, and people can still smell the new car scent. Now, Im not saying that it is not the leather, but it's definately there.... I smell it every morning when I jump in to go to work.

20 months later and 48.7k miles later people are still able to smell it. Although I can't smell them. I used the Magguier leather product also and never put freshner in the car.. .I think it helps....
