What is your APR?
What is your APR?
First off, I just want to thank everybody for contributing what they could to acurazine forums. I learned a lot from this place and I am trying to apply it to my car buying experience with the Acura dealerships around my area.
I could have missed this thread, but I was wondering what kind of interest rates you guys got when financing your new tsx. I've been using credit cards for about 7 years now. Never made a late payment and always paid my bills in full. However, I've also never made a big purchase (car, home, etc.). Do you think I can get an APR of 6% or less right now? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

first check your fico credit score ($10-$20). If it's over 700-710 then you can start looking around. If not, wait a couple mos and try to bring your score up.
you can get 6% if you do a 36mo loan (check out eloan.com) otherwise, the average rate is a little closer to 7%. if your company has a credit union you can check out their rates (usually lower than average). Or you can wait and hope that acura will offer a special apr when the 07s come out but I doubt it.

Try eloan and Captital One auto finance and your bank at least, then see what the dealer will do for you after you have other offers in hand. Just shop around a little and you should find a good rate. Just be sure to read reviews on the different loan companies as some seem a little shady.
As for checking your credit score, I have a visa from Providian. One of their benifits is they tell you your Fico score every month for free. That was pretty handy when I was shopping. Though I do recommend getting a full creadit report before applying for loans. (I don't work for Providian or anything, I just think that's a nice feature they have).
BTW, I started using credit when I was 18 (5 years), and was able to qualify for the top credit tier for the special fincancing when I bought my TSX. I think the dealer told me my score had to be over 750 to qualify, just for reference.

Interest rates vary daily. I wouldn't assume the same rates people received last year will be available this year. I was quoted 5.9% for 60 months w/ a 790 credit score two weeks ago through Capitol One.
3.46% APR at 60 mo. thru a Credit Union with no $'s down and $3.00 to join the CU. I couldn't pass it up. It was like free money. Moral of the story is yes, do get your FICA score and get PreQual'd first. It makes no sense to go hunting without any bullets in your gun. With about a 45+% resale value after 5 years for the TSX your net in your pocket will equal around 1/2 of your monthly payment. Not bad for a new car. Thanks Honda!
I got 6.5%. Be sure to stay on them and remind them you've been approved from a bank for less. Watch them come down a percent point or two. They started off at 9 with me. Sure enough while trying to sell me LoJack, wheel insurance and an extended warranty they subtley led me to believe the interest rate could be lower with some extra insurance purchases. I called them on it and got a much better rate.
I only financed 18,000 (trade in of a paid off car).
We got 3.25% for an equity backed loan from our credit union; however, it would take 2-3 weeks to setup, so I got a loan for 6% from acura for the month, and then we will send the other banks check to the Acura broker.

3% for 36 months from Navy Federal Credit Union. I got an extra .25% discount since I've been a member over 25 years. One of the best credit unions around. If you qualify to join you can open an account for only $5. Believe it or not that is all I have in thier bank since they have no branches within 200 miles of my house. I keep this account for just these occasions. Last year I got a 2.65% loan for my gf's car but rates have gone up since Nov 05.

It just happened to be a special promotion at the right time
unfortunately right now, the apr's stink. with credit scores above 750 from all 3 major agencies, the going rate is closing in on 7% or higher. definitely look around and check your credit score as well-some lenders are more lenient with credit scores and apr's than others!
i just leased an 06 6 spd tsx through ahfc for the special on acura's website (which isn't half bad as far as a lease goes). i gave up on waiting for a good apr to be available because the 04 accord coupe had overstayed it's welcome with a new baby. the need for 4 doors and desire for a tsx over and accord sedan overshadowed the downsides of leasing.

oh, i wouldn't be waiting on another special on 06's. they are in limited supply now and dwindling quick. however, if you feel like waiting for the 07's, i'm sure at some point they will offer some specials there!
