Question What are those two buttons for?

I notice two vacant "button" spots to the right of the VSA button. Anyone know what they're for? Fog lights, nav??? Maybe an eject button???

One should be for fog and perhaps a spare. I test drove one with Nav and I don't recall it having anything there.

The foglight switch doesn't go down there, it goes on the actual light stalk.

erp.. sorry about that. Must have gotten it confused with someone's non-OEM fog setup.

Great SSM btw.. I hope to be sealing the deal soon on my ssm/ebony.

One might be for the rear sunshade that is on the JDM model. Maybe the other is for the rain sensing windshield wipers that is also missing on our car?

Yes, the Eject button.

TIP: It's always neater to have your sunroof open when you use the Eject button.

Many new cars have extra unused blank "button plates" on the dash or console. I assume these are put in because it's much easier to just add a new feature button/switch to a blank slot than to redesign the dashboard between model years. Even if those blanks aren't used, the designers must include them for the "just in case" scenario. My Nissan had several "blank buttons" which I've since used for auxiliary component switches. Without these nice blanks, I would have had to drill into the dashboard or fabricate my own button mounts.

The two spares are for these JDM features:

1.) Headlamp aim adjustment
2.) Intelligent cruise-control

What's "intelligent cruise control"? Does this extra button mean that you use the steering wheel to engage "unintelligent cruise control" and if you want to increase its IQ you push the extra dashboard button?

[edit: nevermind. I found this. Duh! ]

"Intelligent" cruise control is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of. I am among the minority who actually uses cruise control religiously. I set my speed on the expressway and maintain a constant speed. If I approach a slower moving car, then I change to the passing lane, pass, and move back over to the right. The last thing I want my cruise control to do is mimic the inconsistent behavior of clueless drivers who vary their speed all over the map.

These two buttons are left open for two dealer installed options:

1) Type-S Button : press for instant 220hp/180ft lbs (I've been told this also eliminates rattles too)
2) Type-R button: press for upgrade to V6 & AWD

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I'm just naturally sarcastic

AWESOME! How much is option #1? I'll fork out whatever it takes to get rid of those annoying rattles. As for #2, I'll pass...I like the gas mileage I get with my four banger...

I thought I read somewhere that one of those buttons could be used to install a "rattles off" feature?

Yea. I love cruise control. I use it religiously whenever I can. I even use it on the side streets when I know I'll be just sitting there driving through green lights at night (20min+). I think it can even save on gas because it keeps the RPMs constant. (Also keeps this teenager from speeding)

I just wanted to say that..
