The button on the stereo that says CD/AUX. What the hell is the AUX? It's been driving me crazy

 

I would imagine, that it's for optional Mp3 deck/extra CD changer??? Not too sure, but when I got my SoundGate SNHOND3 Aux-In, I wuold assume that I use that button to access the input.

 

Its an the auxilary input. You can plug in other devices there (i.e mp3 player, cd changer, etc). I hook up my mp3 through that input (via a SNHOND3)

 

How easy is it to hook an AUX input up to that? Can a non-expert do it, or would it require going to a car audio dealer?

 

It's really easy. You need an adapter (like the Soundgate SNHOND3 ) which converts the aux in the factory stereo to two RCA female plugs. Search in the A/V section for directions on how to install the adapter. I did it on my '04 non-nav, the whole process took me 15 minutes.

 

Can you hook up a portable DVD player to hear the sound from the car speakers?

 

 

Hmm so did you have to take apart the dash, and do this? or is there a plug where you can just connect to your mp3 player in plain view?

 

You have to take apart the dash a little, but it just pops out, its pretty simple. i've read people doing it in as little as 15 minutes.

 

Sweet, I just have to get past the fear of taking apart the car...it'll pass, give me time.

 

taking that compartment apart is easy, it can be pulled out and put back in about 3 minutes
