Visiting the Stealership Tomorrow: Tips?
Visiting the Stealership Tomorrow: Tips?
Visiting the dealership tomorrow for a final test drive and negotiation on a 5AT w/navi.
Any tips or suggestions?
I have seen people in CA post that they are getting deals for around invoice. Is this happening elsewhere? Edmunds shows the TMV in this area as only $250 under MSRP.
A quick search of dealer inventory shows 30 TSXs in stock, 11 of which are navi.

Dont get a 5AT...get a 6 speed
Just be prepared to walk away...you should be able to get it at or lower than invoice at least in our area of the country. I got an email back from a dealer about a week ago. All I did was inquire and they shot me back a price of 28,500 for a NAVI model right off the bat. I was like wow...I told them I wasnt interested in a new car...haven't heard from them since.

Talk to other dealers over the phone. Tell them you are about to go to your preferred dealer, and ask if they can offer you a deal so good, you'll want to drop by their dealership first. Make them give you a figure, and if you like it, say you don't want to waste your time going down there only to have them change the price on you so you want to get the quote in writing over email. Always try to go into a dealership armed with a (low) written quote(s).
Hopefully you have checked other dealers within 50 miles of your area. Contact them and get their lowest price. Tell them that you intend to buy within a week and give their lowest price. Let them bid against each other.
If you have a trade, don't mention it until you finalize the price on the new car. Use Kelly or NADA to find the price for your trade. Or Carmax. Note that Carmax will evaluate your car and buy it, usually at the wholesale price given by Kelly. So if you can't get the dealer to come to this price, Carmax is an alternative. Or sell it yourself if you can.
Don't pay for any options you don't want. Don't pay for undercoating or paint sealant or whatever if you don't want it.
Chances are their first offer will be at MSRP (assuming you have not worked out something in advance). You should start at invoice.
