What I do before backing up is tilt the sidemirror down so that I can see where I'm backing into...
The MDX tilts its sidemirror down automatically when shifted into reverse...

I agree with poor visibility.
I thought my previous car (Honda Prelude) was poor with rear visibility, but this car is even worse.

Get a couple of those little convex mirrors to stick on your side mirrors. I hardly even look backwards since I got those.

perhaps there is a mod out there to hook a camera up to your navigation system. I was interested in getting a TL (older model) about 1 year ago, and was reading up on them. Noticed alot of folks were doing that.

It can been done: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12157

This setup is more complicated than it needs to be if you just want a reverse cam. You don't need a car PC, you can just plug the cam directly into the avelectronics unit.

I got a rear spoiler to assist with reversing..so I can see where the rear end is... plus I use my side mirrors every time.

My old car had HUGE side mirrors and didn't have to move them up or down to see the curb/lines. I tried to set my TSX up that way, but occasionally I'd have to move my mirrors..

Yes it is. And I have a $2000 bill to prove it...

Always back up slowly. The steering wheel is very light in reverse and will shift and throw you off.

...or you could always take along a passenger and make them go outside and direct you everytime you backup or something ...this will prevent you from hitting anything...unless that passenger isn't paying attention or wants you to hit something...

Well, that doesn't help if there's no passenger - maybe keep a midget in the trunk for occassions like that?

Really, Acura should have made the side mirrors tilt down automatically once shifted into reverse like on the TL and MDX, but I don't think this is even making it to the 05 TSX?

Well I hava Integra also. I can't see shiet when reversing. But then I had those little mirrors on the side mirrors so they helped. Also very useful when changing lanes. However, I decided against them in the TSX. Better visibility when backing up and I see better when I turn my head to change lanes unlike in my integra. It's kinda ugly too! Best advice, go slow, turn your head and use the mirrors. This is coming from someone who sucks at parellel parking.

I don't have any shots of them on the car but I can take a pic if you want.

Basically they're just like this: http://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/me...ategory_Code=M

Except, mine are only 1.5" not 2".

The TSX cannot have this feature because it does not have the seat memory features.

And the TSX rear deck is very high, but I always felt that judging the distance wasn't too difficult. If anything, it's a lot easier to do than our 2003 TL.

In the second pic, you can see the painted line on the ground in the mirror.

Yeah, I hit a wall on my driveway at 5mph. Going in reverse on this car is tricky. The car hit a bump on the driveway and jerked left... by the time I stopped the car, it was too late.

if you really can't judge the distance when backing in, just open your window and stick your head out! works pretty well

But damn slo007, I know what you are talking about when reversing is a pain with the TSX. I usually just judge my distance by using side mirrors to judge my distance from the curb or car. And the hood of the car behind me to gauge how far I am from that. It worked for me the past 3 years I've been driving with every car. However, watch out for those SUV's with rails sticking out. It might leave a nasty one on the rear of your car...

The good news is that it looks brand new after repair. The bad news is that I still can't tell where the car ends. I'm always very careful.

I don't know if it's the new car syndrome but I always back up REAL slow and give more room than I think I need. Sometimes I even get out of the car, look how far I am and get back in to adjust. I still get caught by the jumpy throttle, you step on it a little bit and nothing happens, you give it a little bit more and WHAM you're flying backwards and you have to nail the brakes. Even parking in regular parking spots in front of a curb can be nerve-racking with the body kit, because your front starts even further ahead than you think.

The TSX is a lot better then my old Dodge Intrepid. A week after a got it, I backed into a utility pole. I told the dealer that it came like this when I got it and they fixed it for free....

Then either use the clutch or left foot braking.

I think most cars generally have less rear visibility than they used to -- for crash-safety reasons. The TSX has poorer rear visibility than my old Camry, but noticably better rear visibility than my girlfriend's '03 Accord coupe -- that thing is a pain to pull out of the driveway. Just a matter of getting used to it though -- hopefully before you get burned
