Used Acura TSX

I am looking to buy a used Acura TSX (2005 or newer) but I am very new to Acura. I want to get a solid reliable car but also something fun to drive. I really like the look of the TSX. I am very new to Acura and would really appreciate some advice on what to look for and what to watch out for.

You have to decide 6MT or 5AT. Then Navi or non-Navi as a minor point (I like the look of the Navi in the dash).

Unless you love the 05 body style, the +06 has some upgrades like extra 10-12 hp, fog lights, bluetooth hands free, updated grill/hood, M.I.D. maint reminder, memory seats, etc... Because of the age of the vehicles, it will be very hard to find something at a reasonable price with under 75,000 miles. Cash on hand, luck, and willing to travel if you are looking for a specific color combo, mileage, navi and/or 6MT.

I've had my 06 TSX since new and now have +115,000 miles. This thing runs like a top with no issues other than routine maint and normal wear/tear. I wouldn't let a TSX with 100,000 miles on the odo scare you if it was well taken care of.

My one and only regret was that I didn't get the 06 model. Still loved it though! But if you can get an 06. If you get an 08 you can pay around 600 for a tuneable tsx (with better base map).

I just traded my wife's '08 TSX 6MT Nav with 81,xxx miles. I am very anal about my cars, so I can honestly say this was over serviced. Only mods done were replaced OEM speakers with Boston Acoustics and dynamatted the doors. Recently put new Mich tires on. I recieved many comments on how clean and maintaned the car had been when I traded it. The dealer is Gillman Acura in Houston.

Well unfortunately the car I found was sold. I've been using Craigslist to look for a Tsx but not very many good ones are out there for sale. Any ideas where else a good place to look would be?

I went and checked out a 2005 TSX that and a little over 98000 miles. It was in pretty good shape, but the seller is asking abut 10K. Is this a good price? Also the driver visor is broken so that it doesn't hug the ceiling when closed, it hangs a little down. Are there any good fixes for that?

The TSX still has a pretty high resell value because it is a pretty solid vehicle. You might find out the TL in the same model years is around the same price with a little more room and not that much difference in mpgs with the V-6. There were 3X-5X more TL sold compared to TSX and a little better selection in the used market. You might find a TL at the same prices; if not a little higher, for a TSX for the same model year. I would go for either one in the used market.

The sun visor can be replaced with a new one by removing two screws and unplugging the power for the mirror light in about 5 min. Usually cost about $80 for new.

If the 05 your are looking has Navi, I don't think they are making up date disks any more for 04-05 years. The upgrade tech, power, luxury and body style really makes the +06 worth the upgrade for me if you find one around the same price (again, unless you really really like the 05 body).

Go for the 06+. I've had way too many problems with my 04 but it could also be my car was in a front end accident.

So far I have replaced;
- passenger side drive axle
- rack and pinion
- power steering pump
- starter motor

Driver side still does not produce any heat (this car is my winter beater and no heat means cold me!)

But in all honesty the TSX is a fun car to drive, it feels significantly lighter than my TLS.

Autotrader, cars.com and CarMax are resources, and you can be emailed of new finds. Yes, fewer TSXs sold, so prices are close to TL's. Check kbb.com for values in your area. mau108 is correct, as always: TL is quieter and smoother but more detached from the road. TSX is much sharper in traffic and city driving.

I bought my '07 TSX new, have 80,000 miles with no issues. Regular maintenance at Acura in KC. They are a great choice.

I have a mint '06 5AT, silver/black with 68000k (41000 miles) in Victoria, BC, Canada. The other day I was checking out the '15 Fiesta ST, which gets rave reviews, and the salesman offered me $15000 for mine on the spot. No doubt the Sales Manager would try to lower it, but the offer was out there before I said a word. I'm tempted to push them, but I'm also reminded of why I hate Ford dealers! Seems like all the dealers may be aware of the small but enthusiastic demand for this car used. I do think mine is worth $15000 Canadian, and it's worth more than that to me.

I have an 04 auto with close to 80k miles, no problems at all just the brake rotors and regular stuff. Fun car to drive, I get 20-22 mpg city, 32-35 mpg highway.
