Update!!
Wow! What a fun thread!
At 16 you don't even know what a car should feel like, so to you it will be as good as new
But to someone that has owned several vehicles and has drivin repaired/totalled vehicles, it will feel like a vehicle that was in the accident.
Here are a few things you will most likely find on your "Good as new" TSX:
- High speed on the highway I bet it shakes!
- I can almost bet your allignment will never be perfect again.
- I bet your windshield will creak more than anyone elses TSX already does.
- And as far as the body work goes, any good body person will be able to tell you exactly what was replaced on it.
Just deal with it! Get over it! It won't ever be the same! Plain and simple!
And to the guy that said after $13k worth of work on your 4 runner it was perfect.......you must have just replaced the grill if you got out that cheap. also....got pics?

Guys, he never knew what it was like new. When you say it will never be the same, what do you mean? To him, it will be normal. To any of us who got a TSX that wasn't in an accident it wouldn't feel the same but to him, it would.

Just some quick questions... did they order the entire front end and it's received as shown in that pic??? As in the a-pillar and wind shield chopped up? Or did this front end come from another TSX involved in a rear-only write-off crash?

I've toured many a Honda factory, they don't make part of a car, ever. This was someones old TSX careful cut up just for you. Nice job of it though. Some lucky RSX likely has that engine from it now

After 2yrs of making payments Bob had to default on his loan, the bank took back the part not yet paid for....
Sadly Sally's TSX was only partly built when Honda Japan lost power in the great outage of Aug 05....
Paul wanting to be like most average American families did everthing he could to own 2.2 cars per household....
The new Acura Cert. Pre-build Cars program. Assemble yours today....
Honda in a new joint venture with Ikea announces.....(Allen wrench not included.)
I've got a great idea. Remove the hood and put a liner in where the engine was, and attach a tow hitch. Slap on two wheels, and you'd have the first TSX utility trailer!
Just think, a trailer with its own HID lights!

wclark,
I don't know why everyone's capping on you. But, then again, that's what happens when you post on a public forum. You have to be ready for everyone's opinions.
I tend to agree that a car can be repaired to like new condition. However, it depends a lot on the skills of the people doing the work and how much time and money is put into the project. For example, I'll bet Chip Foose's shop would be able to restore the car back to better than new condition. They routinely do this w/ beat up old, rusted out muscle cars and the like. Of course, it costs a couple hundred grand to do it also.
That hyperbole aside, I think your car can be easily repaired to near or like new condition by skilled body shop technicians. I think the damage really doesn't look too bad. Just because the hood has been removed, it doesn't mean there's major damage.
Now, with respect to the issue of "frame damage", whether or not there is frame damage, consider the fact that your car will be sectioned. What that means is, the whole front end of your car - including the frame - will be cut and that salvaged CG front end will be grafted on. If you look at the CG front end, you can see the rocker panel/side sill cut. On a unibody car like the TSX, that cut part *IS* part of the frame. Even if there is no frame damage, make no mistake that the repair *WILL* involve cutting and welding of the frame. This in itself is not necessarily bad. Again, it depends on the quality of the work.
Would I keep a car that needed the type of repair where a whole front end needed to be grafted onto the car? Depends on how good the repairs turned out. I would keep an open mind about it until i drove it. Would I consciously buy a car that I knew had those repairs done? No. Who would?

Sounds like an ethical thing your doing there
Pretty much that car won't be back to factory spec because you'll have a nice SALVAGE TITLE on that car. No matter who you sell it or trade it to down the road you have to let them know you once wrecked your car.

I hate people who do that. I hate it even more when I specificaly ask them if it's been wrecked and they say no. Then I drive 45 min. to see the car and it has airbag covers that have been glued back on. Paint dripping down the back bumper. Uneven gaps. Parts painted that shouldn't be. AHHHH!!! Pisses me off thinking about it again!!!

That's why people like me never buy used cars.
Anyone that knows what to look for can tell if the paint job on the car has been redone. Unless the whole car has been repainted, IT WILL be noticed someplace on the car.
