Question Which TSX you own? (or plan to own)

Just curious

My salesman said that at least 80% of TSX sold are auto...just like to verify that!

I don't think this poll will reflect the general TSX buying public, but I'm curious to see the results. I predict 60/40 AT.

FYI - Members here are more inclined towards performance than the general public, so this poll should reflect that with more 6 speeds than the general public.

For sure.

BTW, this was a tough ballot! Plays with the eye a little. Reminded me of the Florida butterfly ballot.

Or how in California about 10,000 dumbasses voted for Schwartzman when they meant Schwarzenegger.

(That's true, you know.)

That would be very interesting if 6MT TSXers were overrepresented on this forum compared to the overall proportion of those buying TSXs. What does the suggest about us 6MT TSXers?

We're more keenly enthusiasts? We like to connect with our cars, such that we're an extension of the gearing by determining the gearing?? We don't find AT to be much fun?? I don't know the answers, but those are some quick thoughts.

IMO, the general public who purchase the 5AT TSX are those who are buying a car just for transportation purpose, and probably don't frequent any message boards on the internet. This could be why the percentage of 6MT is more on here.

That's right! We should get statistics from Acura.

Not sure very many buy the TSX "just for transportation purposes", but your point is taken... 5AT TSX is still an enthusiast car. Non enthusiasts would save some money and buy an i-4 Accord (or a minivan ).

Not necessarily. I passed by an older lady in a SSM on Sunday. Waved at her twice, and she looked at me like I was crazy. She's obviously not an enthusiast (or maybe it's her husband's car ).

Edit: So anyway, I think those persons and personalites that are turned on by MTs will be more inclined to seek out forums like a-tsx.com. That's probably why the poll's skewed our way (although AT is catching up...).

I thought I read somewhere that only about 1/3 of the BMW 3-series are ordered with a manual transmissions. But when did you last read a road test of a BMW 3-series with an automatic and the skinny tires?

I'd guess that this TSX owner sample is on the edge. Or over it.

We need to find the stats on AT vs MT sales for various cars. At one extreme, there are model lines where absolutely no MTs are available due to very low demand. (Various product lines from GM, Ford, and Chryzler come to mind.)

At one point in the 90's, Honda/Acura was reducing their MT model selection, but they seem to have increased their offerings lately, particularly in their Accord and TSX lines.

I am happy to see that AT is not too far away from MT. At least I am not the only "gay" who drives an AT TSX. Why did I say that?
'cause a member think AT TSX owners are.

I think your salesman is very close with his answer. You will not get a unbiased poll here but who cares?

I plan on getting the 5sp auto with navi. That, of course, depends on what kind of APR I can get to see if i can afford it. Plus, I need to test drive it to see if I like it...
