TSX wins C&D 30k comparo (scans inside)/link p. 6

Been a while since we've had a comparison test to speak of, but lo and behold what
was in my mailbox today but a C&D comparison between the TSX, S40, A4, and
Legacy GT. Sorry the scans are huge - don't sue me Csaba!

I have an inkling that we'll see a similar comparison from CR in December. They were
supposed to review the TSX in September or October but didn't, they're reviewing the
S40 in December, and I read a mention on their members forums about the
comparison being forthcoming.

The quality of the scans is deliberately lo, but the words are legible.

Wow, it CRUSHED the competition. I find that pretty surprising actually. I thought the Legacy would have a better showing than that.

I enjoy how the Volvo isn't best at anything, yet manages to finish second overall.

all things we already knew about our TSX, but awesome to see how it compares to the other cars. I was also pretty surprised the Legacy did so poorly, it finished 3rd in vehicle and last in chasis. I guess the only good thing about it is the massive power from the engine.

Looks like Audi really needs to get that new A4 out as well.

fun to drive

Is there a table with the performance stats of each car? (skidpad. , 0-60, etc)?

The only part I"d have to disagree with is giving the TSX a 10 for brake feel. But then again i think my rotors are slightly warped.

Wow the TSX whooped some serious ass. The score isn't even close.
Please notice that this is TSX direct competition. No 3, no IS involved.

Great work Acura!

Way to go TSX (and way to go Sick...I'm proud of you)

My guess is the 325i would come in first and the IS300 third.

I think Acura hit the name in the head especially with the dash. That shit is just to pleasing to the eye. I am sure if they threw in a Saab 9-3 it would have gotten whooped too.
The A4, look at how bad the score is. I guess the Legacy is blah without the turbo.

Car and Driver is bar-none the best American Auto Mag. Their opinion is highly regarded with me.

That Legacy had the turbo. I was surprised it didn't do better. A4 is a great car, but not a driver's car compared to the rest (compared to a Volvo????? )

C&D is tops

It's a Legacy 2.5GT, which does have the turbo and 250hp.

Frankly, I'm surprised the TSX did so well on styling. I like it, but I know many who don't, and I actually like the Audi's looks best of the 4.

Good review. That last photograph really shows how tall and skinny the TSX is compared to the competition. I wish it had a wide, agressive stance like the A4. I dunno, maybe it's an illusion.

If 30k is your budget, no other car comes close.

I was thinking the same thing on both accounts. If they made the taillights more prominent / aggressive, it might help.

The Suburu is flying to 60mph! The 1/4 mile at 15 seconds at 96mph is off that pace. Really no bad cars in the bunch
