Are TSX thief magnets? i.e. K24 a popular engine swap?

Honda/Acura's in general are hot targets for thieves, especially Civic Si's and Integras.
Is that the case with the TSX?

Related question, is the K24 a popular engine swap, making it an even likelier target?
I know lots of Honda's use the K24 block (Accord, Element, CR-V). Is it a direct bolt on?

the RSX S and TSX fit into the engines of the 04 Civics as well as base Acura RSX's...so if the tuner craze really hits for these models....beware i suppose.

I know this (not because i'm stealing any), but i did research for my 04 EL (essentially the Civic) and it's a near easy drop...and with the RSX S engines, so much mods can be done after..it'd be one fast ride.

actually they fit into 3rd gen Integras and numerous civics quite easily.

http://www.hasport.com/products/mounts.htm

k-swap mounts for
1988-1991 Civic and CRX
1992-1995 Honda Civic
1996-2000 Honda Civic

1994-2001 Acura Integra

Recently I read they're working on mounts for the Integra so you can use the tsx tranny with the block.

What sort of theft deterrents do RSX's and TSX's have compared to the old Integra and Civic Si?

Usual sensors + immobilizer.

Not sure what the Teg and Si had.

not an issue with hight theft rate, nor should there ever be, they arent produced in the same numbers as the others listed. They are harder to part and source out.

This is a weird thread

i wouldn't want the thief to even touch my car, i don't want to wake up in the morning and see my car have scratches all over the edge of the door.........=(

These systems were installed in high-end cars during the apartheid years so the wealthy white Afrikaner's could protect themselves from angy rioting mobs and militias. I heard their is another system with a sling blade that would fly out and turn your legs into stumps

Does anyone have a link to anything factual regarding this? I wonder if my friend was BS'ing me.

As already stated. They will be eventually.

They already have numerous swap kits for the Civic and Integra chasis to swap the K24 directly into them. They also have several kits in the works for older gen Accords.

They are even regarded as the new and Improved frankenstein motor. People have already put an DC5 ITR (RSX) head on TSX blocks with great success.

And like stated they respond very well to bolt ons and turbos.

So maybe not now, but eventually they will be the "next rage" as it's already started when the RSX was first released.

But I think it will be a while. But if a theif wants it they always find a way.

I had a friend with an integ Type-R. he parked it for one night without an ecu in it or battery. GONE the next morning. Private apartment complex.

I see cvcc ricers taking a hard look at my tsx. They seem to be concentrating on the front, so I figured they want the headlights.

exactly. There's no real way to stop a thief only slow them down or make it harder then it's worth.

For the TSX, they can swap out your ecu and immobilizer, replace it with a set of their own and drive off with your car.

I'd like to think they aren't. I'm in Syracuse, NY and just last month I went to a show downtown and parked in one of those municipal lots run by the city. The guy parked next to me (06 w/Nav) got his 200? Dodge Ram 3500 broken into and got a bunch of personal belonging stolen. He was parked right next to me, the robber smashed his window, stole a rolex, wallet and some other things. Poor guy.... and not a scratch on my car.

maybe the hilly billy left his pimping rolex and watch right the plain view?
if thieves brake your window and reach in, the alarm won't go off, as long as they don't open the door.
