TSX sales in July - Most Yet!

From today's Hondanews....

"Acura Division posted a new July record on sales of 15,782 units, a 5.9 percent increase over last year's record results. MDX set a new July record with sales of 4,604 units, up 17.5 percent for the month, while the all-new TSX sports sedan posted its best month since its introduction in March, 2003."

Their table lists the TSX July sales at 2938, with a running total of 8970 since its introduction.

Get em while they last.

2938, that about 900 or so more than June. Lets see if this 15K for April to Dec holds true. I seriously doubt it. If they sell 2000 per month for the remaining 5 months of the year, which at this point seems like a lock that's 18,970 units. They'll hit 20K + no problem. Not to mention another 6K or so in Canada.

I am #10,191 and the car is coming in a few days.

If they hit 15,000 in October, do people actually think they'll stop making them and leave dealerships dry of TSX's for months? Of course not, 15,000 is just a target sales number, if they can sell more they will make more.

I agree, but that's not what was being said by dealers before the car hit showrooms. Alot of people were adament that only 15K would be sold in the US and thats it. My dealer told me as well that he'd only be getting a set number and that was it. Again IMO it was dealer BS to get sales going.

My dealer said the same thing and I was like "that's a misconception, their sales goal is 15,000 units, if they can sell more they'll make more" and he shut up.

Good Job. I would have slapped him too with my cock and tell him to sit the fuck down. Such BS.

Of course BMW is deliberately holding back on producing more Mini Coopers regardless of the demand. Maybe there is something to all of this, supply and demand stuff? People will flock to something more if they know they can't easily have it and usually pay more in the process.

Besides, it is only another month before the "official" 2004 model year starts, so I am sure Honda will justify additional cars by saying they have "re-adjusted" the allocation for the 2004 model year.

except for people who oppose any 4-cylinder, I think those who drive it will see the tremendous value it represents and vote with their wallet.

15000 in the US is an easy target.

well, it's gettin' ridiculous is all I have to say.

I went to go show a couple family members today what the TSX looks like in a few different colors . We went to the Elmhurst, IL. dealer first, which had a CG, a red, a blue and a black one on the lot just last Wednesday. ALL GONE today, except for the red. grrr.

So we went to the Lisle, IL. dealership too, which had a CG, black and blue earlier in the week. But today.. just one.. the blue. double grrr.

I guess that wasn't all I had to say.

whatever...Acura will gladly sell 20,000 TSXs and be happy to get close to MSRP while they do it. It's not often automobile manufactures hit the proverbial bullseye.

I found this for the Mazda6: 7,645 units sold in June and 26,043 year-to-date.

Makes sense. I see at least twice as many 6es on the road as TSXes. Good find, Count.

Yep, I've finally started to see some Mazda6's around. This spring they were still quite rare.

HIP, I just had to chuckle at your post about the MINI Coopers, as I have it on good authority that your statement is a bit off base. I work for an automotive semiconductor supplier, and I recently had the privelege to talk to the BMW execs in charge of the chassis and powertrain electronics units. They told our team that their MINI factory just isn't big enough to suit the current demand. They tooled up the factory for a normal production volume of 140,000 cars per year, and then got slammed with demand. The factory produced 160,000 cars in the past 12 months, and cannot manufacture any more without capacity upgrades (which it will not get because they expect demand to 'normalize' soon).
