TSX pricing question
TSX pricing question
I have a quote for $30,800 for a 2005 CG, ebony auto with navigation. That is the out of door price (which already includes all the misc. fees and cost). Is that a good price or should I be able to get a better price? Thanks!
You should ask your dealer if they participate in the Costco or AAA program. Well you have to be a member in one of this. Last time I checked (back in Aug 04) as a AAA member the dealer was able to get me the 04 CG ebony w/ nav for 29.6K before negotiation. You should check. Its worth the shot. My
Unless you want to squeeeze every dime out of them and haggle some more, that is a decent price for a 2005 at this time. You will probably only be able to get a few hundred off somewhere else. It sucks we have to pay over $2 in taxes.
Thanks for the replies. Well, they weren't willing to negotiate because according to them "this combo of exterior and interior color is so popular that they won't have a problem selling the car." Maybe I should ask them to throw in the front, side, and rear OEM under spoiler at that asking price and we would have a deal?

If you are looking for a brand new combo out the door and don't need it this minute I'd hold off. Jan. is a horrible car sales month, you should be able to do much better in a few weeks.
Else, I'd push for more options....

I too have been looking for a TSX similar to yours- only difference is that i would prefer quartz interior. My target price is $30k OTD. I'm had some initial email conversations with dealers, and I'm getting pretty close to that figure. I am also willing to wait & sit tight to get a good deal. Especially since i'm not too interested in the options.

Thanks for the replies. Let me clearify things. The quoted price given was $28,200 (I think that's a pretty good considering market sticker is approx. 29,000). But after you add sales tax, license and all the other fees, the total sales price is 30,800 (OTD). Furthermore, with $5k down over 48 months @ 2.9APR, they're quoting $571 for monthly payments. How does that quote from the dealer sound now? Is that better, close, or not as good as what people on the forum are paying? Thanks for all your help. Oh yeah, Merry Christmas to all!
Many people are un-willing to do this but I usually have 3-4 color options I'm willing to take I rule out nothing in Honda-land. To me options are everything color choice is secondary. Color doesn't play a huge value in residual down the road especially for a hot selling car. I mean as long as you don't have the one pink colored car or something....most honda colors are tasteful so this isn't a huge hurtle IMO.
Using this tactic I have been able to cold call many dealers, ask what is instock and purchase at a great deal over the phone site un-seen. I did this for my cert. USED TSX.
I look at Hondas (and Acuras) this way. The car is a trim level and odometer reading...if it's a brand new car I want sub 100mi on the clock (I prefer straight off the truck.) But for a significant discount say a grand or 3 I'll take the dealer demo, hey a year from now the demo and the other new cars look the same.
If you are willing to be flexable in color and just need a Navi-AT or nonNavi-6spd, etc. You should be able to do sticker out the door at some point. Sticker out the door is a very fair number.
I've even cold called in the morning and said I'd pick it up after lunch if they would do the price...it worked once or twice in my experience...this helps more near the end of the month though
And I'll drive a few hundred miles for a car deal, hey you only have to drive and pick it up once...just service it locally.

Go through cars direct like i did... I negotiated on the car i wanted, and there was only one car with my exact specs in the area.. I was able to get him down to 27,700 for a rare color combo. Like i said, i was 4 dollars short of 30k out the door. it aslo had wheel locks and splash guards.

Sounds like we have tons of good advice...bottom line is don't buy until you are comfortable with the numbers.....else you will never be happy with the car until you get the price YOU want to pay. Don't worry about what others have paid, get the car on your own terms.
We also have a registered sticky that shows the prices paid by others on the site check it out for ideas. www.Edmunds.com will also show you what others in YOUR area are paying for the TSX.

I went there... got the invoice price, and bargained w/ the dealer. Tax, title and license, I paid less than $30,000 for mine.

Yeah- I read about the group buy, but missed out on it by just a couple of days. Couldn't tell if the one for S.Cal ever got off the ground. Anyway, I'm hoping to make a deal on D-day- the 30th!

Should I expect an OTD price of $30Gs in a few months or do people believe that it should go down by Springtime? And does anyone have an estimate on how much I should be able to get the OTD price to be at that time (Auto, Navi, Bodykit (if not on lot, then I'd order))?
