TSX prices in CO?!?!
TSX prices in CO?!?!
'kay, I said on earlier threads that I was going to buy a TSX this weekend.
I based my decision on all this talk in this forum about how most purchases of the non-navi TSX clocked in around $25,500 to 26,500 US before all other charges. I though, heck 26,000 would be a great price.
So I drive around three Acura dealerships in the greater Denver area, and each dealership is asking for 27,000 and won't budge. I told Mile High Acura that I heard of some people signing for the TSX at around 25,000 (I know, I was bluffing to see where it goes) and the lady says "we've never sold a TSX under 26,950". So I thought, 'kay I'll just ask around...
Courtesy Acura: demo black/non-navi with 5k miles = 26,500!!!
The guy I talked to on the phone was pretty cool, just said that they were hot items and that a new TSX is 27k. Now, I just said thanks and hung up. But as I ate my lunch, I'm thinking "5000 miles and it's only 500 under MSRP?" Sounded funny, and I want to drop by the dealership again this week. Oh, and they had 16 TSX's on the lot, and that's a hot car? Oh well...
Flatiron Acura: Budzzz, if you read this, you were right on one thing, the service was beyond great. The people were absolutely friendly and did everything to make me comfortable. But when asking about a CG/non-navi, they said that the price was 27,034 and said that's the best price that they could give me. They had about 12 on the lot. The finance guy was really cool, he called me today and said he's trying to find a lower financing bank to bring the price down... I just wanted to say "make it easy and just drop the price down to 25,500~26,300 and I'll pick it up today". Ugh... Oh, I think Budzzz said to talk to Jon Baron, I forgot to ask for him...
So, I'm thinking, especially for peeps in Colorado... What prices did you pay, who did you talk to at the dealership, and is everyone actually being honest about the deals they have receieved. After all these dealership experiences this weekend, I'm thinking that 25,500 is impossible in Colorado at least, and that other regions might be different than here in Colorado. Virus7 said he got his at Courtesy pretty early in production and he basically paid MSRP. Others care to share their info from CO dealers?
I don't know, 27k just seems like too much to pay for this car... I know it's great and all, but come on!!! With estimated invoice sitting at 24,300~24,900, the dealers seem to be sucking in the profits. I'm reasonable, I won't ask for invoice from a dealer, that's just plain rude... but what I'm asking for is a compromise of both parties on the price of the car. I want a decent deal and I also want the dealer to make a decent profit off their product. Plus, the interest rates were just rediculous!!! (quoted from 6.9 to 10%!!!)
My father rode in the TSX this weekend for the first time, and he's not thrilled with the car as much as I am, especially when they said they have to sell MSRP. In my father's words "27K for a 4 cylinder Honda seems a bit on the high side, especially when the car is a compact." He suggests opting to wait for better financing from Honda, getting an Accord EX four banger for 24K, leasing a G35/A4 (the lease on the TSX was rediculous as well), or just waiting a month or two and going back. I'm thinking about going back in a month or two, or just getting a Jetta Wagon or Mazda 6 wagon.
That's my long rant of this week.

There's an awesome $289/mo BMW 325i lease right now. And I think its only a 24mo lease which is really good. I don' t know why their lease rates are so much better but that's a great deal on a nice car.

The TSX lease I was told of was:
$1000 down, 465 a month, 15k per year, 49% residual... sounded horrid compared to other lease programs.

Junkster, I have a good friend who's from Englewood and has always gotten pretty good deals on his cars. One thing you could try is to run the figures in the TMV pricing on edmunds.com and see if the price in your are really is artificially inflated or the dealerships are just trying to rake in some extra profit. If that doesn't help, I'll talk to my friend and see what source he uses for his cars. Maybe he has some sort of inside info.
Good thinkin' CGTSX... forgot about using Edmunds...
The TMV for my neighborhood is $26,216. I think I might bite on that price if they called it out. I'm not hagglin' for 216 bucks.
I think I'll make some calls to see what they say tommorow.
Junkster, who thinks he would sign if they called 25,900.

BMW 325i
$289*/month for 24 months (does not include tax)
$289 First month’s payment
$2,500 Down payment
$300 Security Deposit
$3,089 Cash due at signing
Excludes tax, title, license, and registration fees. (Add another $200 to $500 depending on what state you live in)
At lease end, lessee will be liable for disposition fee of $350.00 (What a crock of sh*t)
Not to mention the 325i with the *special* lease price is a base model... has a moonroof and heated seats (Oh joy!)
Try another dealer! I got mine for $399 per month (which includes tax), $1000 down, 48 months, 12k miles, AND carried $1200 in negative equity into the lease.
Brand new, NHB/P 5AT without Nav for $26,090 (had 8 miles on it when I took delivery).

Not to say everyone that's posted has not helped in any way but...
Where are the CO peeps that actually bought/leased their cars? And in another tangent, what have other people paid for their cars? Details, peeps.
Eesh, that fine print on the 325 lease isn't so hot.
Junkster, who hasn't heard from the dealerships since 11 this morning.

Update:
Mile High: Got a call back from the lady, said she would love to get me into a RSX instead. I asked if she could do any better on the TSX. She shrugged off the question and started talking about the RSX again
. I told her I would "think" about it and call her back... NOT. I think I'm done with Mile High. If she calls one more time, I'm giving her the Edmunds TMV price and saying that's what I want or I'll stop wasting her time.
Flatiron: The finance guy really has my vote of confidence. He called and told me that Kim, the saleslady, is out for the day and that he was working on finding better financing. He wanted to know if I was willing to put more money down... I don't really want to, but I said I would think on it for the night. I would rather have some money on me right now since I'm reapplying for med school again and will need some money on hand. He's asking for $4000, I'm saying $1000, $1500 at the most (I have about $3000 saved). Next call, I think I'm going to state the Edmunds TMV and see what he says.
I'm getting a headache... need some pills.

Well, let's see if this information will be helpful.
I got my car on May 17th, 2003. That's a little over a month after the first car was released to retail customers. I have the following lease:
$1700 drive off (included everything)
$335/month (tax included)
48 month lease
12,000 miles/year
Lo/Jack install + service included
Protection package included
This is in Southern California with a 8.25% sales tax. I think that if I was able to get this good of a deal, given your TMV of $26,216, I'd say you should be able to get at least the following:
$2000 drive off (including everything)
$350/month (tax included)
48 month lease
12,000 miles/year
Keep in mind that higher mileage means lower residual and thus higher monthly payment. Also, your total cap cost reduction should not exceed $1000. If you do that, you're just throwing money away. Anyhow, hope that was helpful. Ask away if you have further questions.

Junkster -- Have you thought about making a drive somewhere outside of Denver to get the car, ie: NM or TX. You could probably find a better price, and the travel to get from your home to pick up the car will still save you some $$$. I went to my dealer asking for the best price possible, he said 27,000 (in El Paso). I called to San Antonio and they told me 25,900. I called back the local dealer and told them no thanks that I had a better price, they in turn sold me the car at 26,000.
Thanks, CG, that was informing. Although the lease would be my last option in getting a hold of a TSX, it's an option I'm willing to ponder. I was also thinking that more than a grand would be a waste on a lease (if you got more than a grand down, why not just buy, right?).
cmf, I don't know if I really want to go all the way out of state to pick up a TSX. I mean, I got three Acura dealers in my state (NO, I'm not counting Pikes Peak, that's not a dealer). I'm hoping that one of the three dealers is willing to part with one car so that they can sell more cars down the line.
So, Tuesday, when dealers call back, it's time for me to bark out the final numbers, ask about a lease, than making a decision all in the same phone call.
If all else fails, I'm going to either 1.) wait a couple of months to see if the dealers budge a bit or 2.) just get a different car.
Junkster, whose not liking Acura dealers all over again.

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time making a deal on a TSX. FYI...with a large down I got financing for 3.65% in Jan. May be worth your while to go out of state to get your car. Is your med school close to a dealer that is offering these great deals? My car has Navi and is pretty loaded with dealer options. I got about the best deal I could get in Colorado. I used Acura's quote system to thin out the crowd. Very pleased so far!
Greetings
Bought a CG/Ebony/AT/NonNav TSX from Flatirons last July for 27K. They were not willing to move off from MSRP. But it was a pleasant experience. Shop around for financing, Should be able to get 3.9 if you have good credit.
Love the car. Go get one.

I would think twice about getting a 325 with the current lease program. For starters, the model is getting ready to change this fall so they are trying to clear stock and keep production capacity moving along with the lease rates. The other reasons I would think twice is that the one that is being offered doesn't have much in it, I think it basically has leather/heated seats and not much else to offer. If you want one that is equiped well you will be paying much more for the car. The 3 series comes with a terrible stereo, trust me I have a 3 series. If you enjoy listening to music you will be really pissed with the sound quality. I had to add new speakers, amps and sub to get mine to sound ok. The car will also come without a cd player so add $500+ for that install. When you think of it as well, they are offering something just under $300 a month for 24 months with $3,100 down. If you divide the $3,100 by 24 and add that to the monthly cost you are paying about $10,000 for a basic stock car over two years. Not the best deal in my mind.
I paid 25,595 at Flatrion Acura in Boulder for Black, MT, no-nav. I used Carsdirect.com to get quotes and this is what was offered. Jon Barron is the sales rep. The other Acura dealers in Denver would not even try and negotiate.
I live in Boulder and bought my car at Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. I know of other people in Boulder who have bought at Pikes Peak as well. I thought Flatirons was very professional and up front, but I went to the two dealers in Denver, and there was no way I was going to buy from them. Anyway, I bought my car in June, and Pikes Peak was the only dealer to have a 6MT on the lot at that time. I felt that I did not want to put a deposit down, since the arrival dates were not really set in stone. I had checked the incoming cars at Flatirons and it looked like an unclaimed and satisfactory 6MT wouldn't come in soon. At the time, dealers were putting unclaimed TSX's into demo service, but this one at Pikes Peak had just arrived, so it did not have any extra miles on it.
I also was trading in an Integra. Bottom line, I paid MSRP, and got NADA trade in for my car, so I was happy. The car had tint and a clear bra, which I told them I want pay for, and I told them that they needed to waive the BS dealer fees that most places seem to tack on. The deal might not have been as good as others got 6 months later, but at the time I wasn't going to get anything better in CO.
So I'd call Pikes Peak, see what they have on the lot, offer them 26k, and tell them you don't really want to drive all that way if its not going to be worth your time..... Shoot, if walkalong got 25,595 at Flatirons though carsdirect, I'd fill out their web form and see what kind of quotes you get.... again, it seems like when dealers quote a price, they tend to tack on a 300-400 dollar 'dealer fee' when you buy.

Cal, I have a post in the dealers forum. It's about how I got called an 'asshole' by a salesman in the middle of the show floor, basically for asking what their price was before I put my deposit down. That was at Pikes Peak, and I'm never going to shop at PP, even if they give away a TSX to me (well, maybe).
Junkster, whose thinking of just waiting a month or two.

If he got that price it usually means enough haggling will get you there too.

Yea, Domn, that would be the price I'm looking to achieve. I'm starting to think more and more that Colorado Acura dealers must be fairing better in selling TSXs at MSRP than other dealers throughout the country.
I think I'm gonna have to go behind my saleslady's back and try emailing Jon Baron about a possible deal. I don't wanna be rude but hey, its my money and its not a cheap car either.
Love the service at Flatiron, no diggity, no doubt.
Junkster, who had a Blackstreet flashback just now.
I was looking at other cars in Colorado Springs on the same day (if you want a story about the Volvo dealer in Springs, they showed themselves to be the sleaziest dealer I have ever been to, but that's another matter). Anyway, the S60 had heavy discounts last summer, and I had seen a couple for under 20k new, so I figured I'd go down to Springs and look the TSX while also seeing what kind of deal I could get on an S60.
You great friend Frank was the salesman who initially approached me. He seemed a little hyperactive but was helpful, and I just wanted to drive the two back to back. So I drive the TSX, then the S60, but the volvo dealership is complete trash, and I soon realize they are not typical cushy volvo dealer, but a bunch of grinders (who lie on the phone about a lot of things to get you in there). I return to the Acura dealer to get a quote, and since Frank was not there, I dealt with the sales manager directly (Andrew). He says it's been a slow day (it was rainy and cold) and asks if there is a way we can make a deal. I decide to make a fair offer instead of trying to play this game of back and forth that sometimes goes on. I think it is also pretty clear that I will not be back to Springs ever. Even though I am still really pissed about this volvo dealer, I politely outline that I will not pay their fee, and will not pay for their accessories, and want NADA trade for my car. Nothing outstanding, but much better than other dealers were offering. Maybe it was because they hadn't sold any cars all day, maybe talking to the sales manager directly helped, but it took 30 minutes to get everything taken care of and I was happy with how professionally the deal was handled. But, I can also see how certain salesman there could rub you the wrong way... I did feel a little bad I did not buy at Flatirons because they definately treat people very well, but if they don't have the product on the lot.
However, there is no way a place should get MSRP now, with 12+ TSX's on the lot. I checked inventory for two weeks to see when a 6mt was in stock.
Try this bank - I found them online - they have 3.5% rates right now, and a $150 or 1% fee if you pay off the car before early (not a huge deal, considering the money you save)
I have the 3.5% rate locked till my TSX arrives from Japan (should be end of April)

I don't know...but it makes sense to me.
Update:
I've narrowed it down to Flatiron... but they just won't budge on their price, at least through Matt, the financing guy. He's was cool about dealing with everything, but he didn't know how far they could come down on the price. I told him that Carsdirect.com and Edmonds both suggest prices at around 26,200 and he said he would get back to me by Friday.
The lady I was working with seemed to be out for a while, so some other guy's suppose to call me, but I haven't heard.
BTW, I was dealing on a CG/quartz/non-nav, and the car also included the plastic metal trim kit... kinda looked bad (I even asked for them to take it off during the talks. They said to they would if I bought it).
So, I've decided to call off the car buying for a month or two. I'm in no hurry and I figure waiting a month or two might favor the negotiating part. Plus, I would really love to drive the new Legacy and figure if I could buy into the GT wagon model. But, still I would love to get a TSX.
So, I'll probably bump this thread in a month or two.
Junkster, who still hasn't seen a TSX with the OEM spoiler yet.

Hey Junkster - I meant to post earlier but just now got around to it.
I got my TSX in August and haven't paid attention to prices recently, but I know when I got mine, there was no budging on MSRP here in the Denver area. Mine was slightly used (800 miles), and I only got $1,000 off. And this wasn't a demo - it was actually purchased and then "returned." This was from Mile High. So, I think that's just the reality here in Colorado. I think perhaps the best you can do right now is get the "Acura Protection Package" thrown in.
We had also purchased an MDX from Flatirons a few months earlier, so I had quite a bit of dealings with all of the dealerships in the Denver area. Sad to say, I didn't particular like any of them all that much. It almost made me want to buy an Accord at Schomp, since they have excellent customer service.
I just don't think any of our Acura dealerships have much in the way of class. I think Courtesy is the worst as far as salespeople, though I do get my cars serviced there (mostly due to location). The salesperson I dealt with at Mile High was OK but not terribly friendly. And I thought the sales manager I dealt with at Flatirons was sort of rude. And Flatirons seemed to be the worst at adding undesirable accessories/options to the cars and trying to force them onto you. They add a terrible looking rubber side molding to all their MDXs. It looks so cheap. And, I guess it is cheap, 'cause the next morning after buying ours I peeled it off.
So, anyway, sounds like you're doing the right thing by putting off the final decision for a few months. Unless you're in desperate need of a car, there's never any harm in that. It's so exciting to be looking at cars when you're actually planning on buying one. And I definitely think it's worth waiting to see the Legacy, particularly if you may be interested in a wagon. I had a '98 Legacy GT which I loved for its character - and that only had 165 hp!
By the way, maybe you'll catch a glimpse of my Meteor Silver TSX here in the Denver area - then you will have seen a TSX with an OEM spoiler. Take care.

suggestion BUY outside CO
My suggestion would be to negotiate with a dealer outside of CO. I handled all my negotiations over e-mail, and only phoned the dealer once. I got $1250 off msrp. Try to find dealers outside your beautiful state and when the car gets there, take a nice train ride...or go make sure there are no arabs getting on planes.
