Is TSX a Luxury Car?
I would classify it as a Sport-Luxury which is pretty much as close as you can get to calling it an outright Luxury car. Cars I would call Luxury would be:
Mercedes S-Class
Lexus LS
BMW 7 Series
Infiniti M
Audi A8
You see the pattern?

Convention does not call the TSX a luxury car. It competes in the "near-luxury" segment along with the TL (and 3-series, g35, IS, etc.)
But if you want to go against market convention and call it a luxury car, it really makes no difference to anyone but you.
But then again there are people calling their Toyota Solara "sport" coupes.

Come on guys. I agree with Knox. Luxury cars the Mercedes S-Class, Lexus LS, BMW 7 Series, Infiniti M, Audi A8. There is absolutly no comparison between the tsx or the TL and any of these cars. these cars are, for the most part, larger, faster, more comfortable, and more expensive than our cars. I know, my mom has a 7 series and it is all of the above. Don't get me wrong, our cars are great, but they reside in the near luxury category (more sporty). just two more cents.....
lol luxury is subjective...
if you're calling a 7series luxury what is everything else??
to me luxury is something that's not necessary... like leather seats aren't necessary.. heated seats aren't necessary either.... rims/hubcaps... navigation... bluetooth... etc
so to me the TSX is a luxury car... not the MOST LUXURIOUS one... but it is luxury... go buy a base car with no power steering, no a/c... that still gets you from point a to b.... and then get back into your TSX and you'll have to admit it's luxury..

no, tsx isnt a luxury car, its far from luxury. Ive driven nissan, honda, toyota, MB, BMW, VW, audi.
honestly, i think TSX uses cheap plastic interior and cheap leather. easy to knock and very hollow. but i still pick one, why? i just love the looks of TSX. stylish..

BMW doesn't have to be 7 series, here are a few things my '03 330i has that I miss in my TSX:
adjustable lumbar support (power)
heated seat back not just bottom
3 positions to heated seats
full leather seats, not just part of it
rain sensor wipers
automatic headlights
full power passenger seat (14 way) just like driver's
real iPod connection
Bi-Xenon lights with auto level
programmable for DRL or not, your choice
programmable for auto-lock or not, your choice
a real sport steering wheel, much thicker
all windows auto one touch both ways, including sunroof (all 4 ways for that)
speed sensitive volume & wipers
8 fan speed settings (16 on my old 5 series, man now those & 7s ARE crazy luxury)
being able to open of close the center vents
park distance control (ok, it's available, I don't have it though)
3 engine choices
in fact, choices period, I think choices are good, Acura doesn't seem to think so.
all that being said there are a few things I prefer about the TSX:
mostly the very nice navigation system
in dash CD changer (though even our 2006 Civic played MP3 discs and had a PC card slot)
better center console
a tad more room overall
being able to program the available options yourself instead of having the dealer do it
being able to have dual or single climate control, very nice
being able to turn off the climate control with one button
both are nice cars but I think Acura could have done a bit more, even if they had to offer some options.

I'd classify it as "near luxury"... definitely not as luxurious as some M-B's, BMWs or even Lexus, but that is also a price tag issue. The TSX comes in under 30K, so you can't expect all the same lux features as some 3 series that would go for 10K more...

Thanks for reminding me off all the things I miss about my 330ci! Dont forget memory seats for driver, with 3 memory settings, SMG transmission (which pwns manual and automatic, best transmission I have ever, ever used), Harmon Kard. 12 speaker option....Loudness, no need to upgrade.
I think with lux, you get options, the mere fact you could have two choices of Black exterior with grey interior, black, tan, camel, camel with black, or even red
Every car you could select the leather options. Thats lux to me I suppose is having those kind of choices. The problem is, the 07 335's can cost almost 20K more than the 07 tsx depending on the options. I think Acura will figure this out, as they have started to do this sort of with the RL

it's just not quite there yet. they could do a few minor things to put it there though. for me it would be improving the leather quality. improving the interior noise reduction, and using things like real wood. i'm not saying these things are all important to me in a car, but they are pretty much imperatives for me to consider it luxury. i'd also like to see a more independent platform for the acuras vs hondas.

let's face it, some things have become fairly standard that used to be luxury options because it has filtered down to the less expensive cars. power windows used to be a big deal.
the TSX is certainly above many cars, but to me it's not a luxury car, but close to it. the cheaper leather and cheaper interior parts to not scream luxury to me. but i love my car. it's a value for sure!
here's wiki's definition:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxury_car
I voted closest you can get before luxury. Honestly, while the car has some very nice appointments and I love it, I think it's too stiffly sprung to be a true luxury car. I tend to think of luxury cars as being softer-riding.
Sport sedan is a better description, IMO, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

voted for near-luxury.
but to me, it's luxurious and sporty. that, to me, is an awesome combination given our tsx's value and price.
but "luxury" is all subjective. i consider my dad's e class to be luxurious. at the same time, my little cousins think the tsx is. i think the g35 and is are luxurious car. so it's all subjective.

It just depends on whom you ask, you will get many conflicting answers & views.
I am very happy with my luxury car, I wouldn't want one that costs twice or thrice as much, even if I could afford them. I think the term Luxury Sport Sedan is the best description of our wonderful vehicles.

i still agree with wiki's definition completely, which rules out our tsx:

Thanks for posting up the link twice for those of us that didn't catch it the first time...
but according to your link the TSX would fall into Entry Level Luxury according to it's price range, a TSX with Navi defintiely falls into the range according to the wiki entry..
also according to the wiki entry Acura is a Luxury car manufacturer... i guess you only agree with parts of the entry then... not completely like you stated here...
also according to this link from your precious wiki , it's entry-level luxury...
