TSX leather durability

Hello,

I was just wondering how everyone's leather in their TSX is holding up? I currently have 23k miles on my 07, and it looks good, however, I did notice a scuff/scratch on the driver's side bolster (vinyl part). Anyway, I was just curious if anyone, especially those of you that have the ebony interior has noticed any scuffs/scratches? Also, do you transport a lot of things that could potentially scratch the seat?

Lastly, does anyone know what it costs to replace a seat cover in the TSX? I'm assuming that the bottom and top part are separate?

Thanks much, guys!

Jeff

almost 2 1/2 years- a dent from a can of cranberries left on the seat too long, a slight scratch from a sharp object in husband's back pocket, a few wrinkles but nothing real bad. I clean and condition the seats often. (almost 74,000 miles)

TSX leather is trash, lets just admit it people.... My driver's seat looks horrible after 4 years and 32k miles. I dono about previous owner, but I clean and condition it and it helps, but once I stop it gets worse. It all looks worn off and polished. Back seats are alright tho, since no one sits there most of the time.

Do you have a picture of the scratch? How noticeable is it?

Since I know it is there-it is noticeable but you have to look very closely for it. It will not show up in pictures. I just have to remind my husband to remove all sharp objects from his pockets before he enters my car. Screw drivers and leather do not mix well.

i agree, although i cant really compare it to other cars because i've never had other leather seats. but my leather has stretch and scratches on the driver and passenger seats. i should have used leather treatment more often.
sidenote: my bros rsx type s is much worse, way worse than tsx.

I don't think the leather is trash, more like the cheap vinyl they use for the side bolsters. Now that is total trash.

Just got a used 04 TSX and I can admit that the leather is in a really good condition, especially for such a high milleage that my TSX has (160k miles). The driver's seat has some dents for sure, but they aren't really bad.

I got a used '06 TSX and have put 15,000 miles on it. I'm at 50,000 total now and the seats look good. There's some creasing from people putting their butts in the seat, but nothing major. Looks new with a little leather conditioner.

04-08 TSX's use probably one of the lowest end leather grains. It's thick and durable, but not soft and enjoyable to the touch (which is one of the benefits of leather). Check out the 09 tsx as they upgraded the leather quality. It's a subtle improvement if you have already felt the leather in an 04-08. Acura had to cut corners to bring these cars in at 30k. This is one of the sacrifices unfortunately. It isn't high end lexus/mercedes leather, but it will do

I am not sure about the mileage on my 2007 tsx, but from using it for 2 years, there is some wear on the drivers seat, creases and such. Some of you guys have commented on conditioning the leather, do you use the Meguiar's leather conditioner cleaning wipes? And is that adequate?

Check out the Wash & Wax section in Off Topic. I use Zaino.

I use different products- bluemagic leather cream conditioner, guardian leather conditioner, first place finish leather conditioner, armor-all leather wipes are some of them.

I've always used......... pretty much nothing on my 05's seats (95K miles). I won't say they because, because probably over 90K have been driver only miles. The seat doesn't look too bad. Especially considering all the flaming these seats (the material anyway) have taken over the years.

Leather is holding up great, but cushioning on the sides IMO sucks, so it's all wrinkled up. I like the bucket style, but it's definitely not designed for larger people. I've crushed down the whole left side of the seat, now it's flat over there.

Funny thing, when I bought the car, my dealer showed me HOW to get into the car, so that I don't crush the left seat bolster. (Butt first, pivot both feet in). I laughed at the time, but I have to say, I do it the way he demostrated any my seats look good. Also, it helps not to wear jeans with exposed rivets. Those are ruinous for leather seats.
