total of 8mile commute roundtrip... but it takes me about 45 minutes to get to work. I hate NOVA traffic.. especially by the tysons area where i work. I say you move closer not further away. I agree with the others you'll have more time and wasting precious minutes in ur day over commuting sucks.

63 miles each way. Commute isn't bad (no traffic)...XM and Ipod are a must though. I'm originally from Syracuse so I can understand your frustration with Binghamton.

Money wise I have to fill up almost twice a week....that'll scare ya

i do 15 miles one way w/ heavy traffic so its annoying. but i pass a shell that offers 6cents off fridays on v-power if it were me i'd like to live kinda close to where I work. Unless the job is high paying, etc... otherwise its not worth it. Gas is just too expensive today. iPod, XM, CDs, etc... are needed for that long of a commute! but i'd try to find a better place where you are. that's too far if you ask me.

Maybe 2 miles to work. I am considering a bike or walking when the weather turns cooler.

I will be moving early next year (time to buy a house) so my commute should be somewhere around 5-10 miles one way. But I leave early enough that traffic isn't too bad.

Charlotte traffic isn't nearly as bad as other "big" cities. But there are areas that get pretty crappy.

I am about a 50 mile commute roundtrip. Takes about 40 minutes each way. Its not to bad but i wouldn't mind leaving closer to work to cut down on the commute. But i'm not moving out of the city so i can deal for now. But definitly the iPod is a must. I used to do XM(still have it) but since i got my iPod connection i use that now mostly.

52 miles roundtrip using the freeways, 65 using a combination of freeways and toll roads here in Orange County, California. Trip time one way takes 50 minutes on a good day.

I moved about a year ago, cutting my commute from a 30 miles/40 minutes to 8 miles/12 minutes; the difference in commute times was nice, but really it wasn't that bad. What was far worse is that where I was living it was at least a 30 minute drive to do anything interesting (or anything at all after 11 pm).

I commuted 40 miles roundtrip during my college days. If a few drops of rain started falling, everyone would slow down so much that my 40 min drive (1-way) would sometimes reach 2 hours...now that sucked.

Now I only live 4 miles from work, and I have so much time now. Instead of spending 80ish minutes on the road, I now only spend 26 mins round trip.

Moving farther is a bad idea. Less time for you, more wear & tear on your car, stress from driving, higher gas costs, more emissions for the environment, etc...

Now just imagine how your commute will be on the days that there's an accident or road construction. If you don't like where you currently live, maybe try the same distance in the opposite direction of your work?

I drive 29 miles each way to and from work, normally takes about 50 min. each way. I'm no help on gas, I don't even look at it, just fill as needed.

I've been going about that far to work so long it seems normal, ever since my first job out of college it's always been 40 to 50min. But the idea of working a few minutes from home and having all that "extra" time and less aggravation is absolutely awesome and I'd do it if possible ...but not possible for me unless I want to make 1/2 of my salary.

It's the station I listen to about 85% of the time and I was happy to stumble on it since the other crap on the radio up there was pretty lame and that was before I had an ipod.

My commute is about 75-80 miles round trip, 35-40 minutes each way (depending on how I drive) Been doing it 4 years now. With my mods and stereo setup it's not a bad drive at all. In fact there are some days I can't wait to get into my car to test out my latest mods.

I would try to avoid a longer commute if possible. But if you have to do it, commuting in the TSX is great.

I commute 37 miles each way, normally takes around 45-50 minutes. I work 12 hours a day on top of that. I could care less about the gas money or mileage, but definitely consider the time you will not have at home. At the same point, make sure you live somewhere where you will enjoy your time off. I live in Delaware, and can say I am considering adding about 20 minutes to my commute by moving somewhere I want to live.

Also, why can't you switch your job? If your 22, I'm guessing you haven't been with your company a long time. A lot of people don't seem to remember that when it comes to their jobs, they can find a new one. The worst case scenerio is you are out a couple hours of your time on an interview. You never know whats out there until you try.

i commuted this summer about 50 miles, from queens to warren jersey....only 50 miles, but with traffic is 2- 2 1/2 hours one way....I spend about 4-5 hours in the car everyday this summer and it really changes ur attitude. I found that I get more fustrated and agrevated esp when u wonder why the hell ur spengin 1/4 of ur day just sitting and wasting gas. Thank god for the z morning zoo in the morning.

Didn't i comment about living in binghamton to you before? Sucks to hear man....I know how u feel during the school year, i just feel trapted upstate, esp at night. Just hang in there, its better than commuting, trust me.

I have about a 23 mile commute to work that takes about 25 minutes, and a little less on the way back that usually takes 35 minutes. This is because I take a toll road in the morning that is a longer distance, but it avoids a 50 minute drive thru traffic on the regular freeway. It the best $3.50 a day I've ever spent !
