Trunk Tray -- easy to install?

I'm thinking about getting a trunk tray. Just wondering, how much of a job is it to install yourself?

Step 1.) Open trunk.

Step 2.) Put tray inside.

Step 3.) Close trunk.

Haha, that's what I was hoping!

The only thing that had me wondering, though, was that if the trunk tray snugly covers the entire trunk from end to end, and the TSX trunk opening doesn't go from end to end (in fact I think the opening is actually a bit small), then I thought there might be a problem with the trunk tray just sliding right in.

But if that's all that is required, then cool. Thanks.

It's very flexible, but it does fit snugly. It's saved me a couple of times.

That kinda reminds me of this guy who shops at our store (I run a hardware store). He bought everything he needed to build a boat from scratch, built it in his basement. Then couldn't get it out. As far as I know, it's still there

He also built a jacuzzi down there out of cement...

If you can put a trashbag in a trashcan. You'll be able to install a trunk tray.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure I like your choice of analogy!

I hope this thread doesn't leak out to other forums.

If you can install floormats, you can install a trunk tray.

Thumbs down

Got it. Thanks. Actually, I got the answer about 9 posts ago. You last two guys really didn't have to tell me yet again and indirectly insult me while you were at it.

Lucky for me, a trunk tray was part of the protection package (along with wheel locks and splash guards) that every dealer puts on the TSX up here. That saved me from this arduous install process.

I thought you had to take about 2 inches of each side with scissors

The trunk tray leaves about 3 inches space on the side between the wheel well and the rear wall of the trunk (everywhere else is a snug fit). That space is perfect for keeping a bottle of detail spray and a rag (for those birdbombs).

Sorry for one more stupid question , but is the trunk tray open in the front in order to allow expansion through folded-down rear seats? I'm assuming it is and doesn't have sides that block that, but I can't exactly tell by looking at the pic here:

Thx...

Yeah, but that doesn't quite answer my question. Is it flat and open near the seats, or does it have sides that I would have to smoosh down every time I want to load something big (or long) in there?

Haha, yes sir! Will do!

Seriously, thanks for the info and putting up with all the questions. I know I know, I'm a finicky shopper who likes to do a lot of research (maybe too much) on stuff I buy. Especially stuff I buy "sight unseen," where all I have to draw from is a crappy little Web photo.

.

I know what you mean - I'm that way too. I ask millions of questions just so I can get the clearest picture possible of what I'm buying.
